We have just come back from a european road trip honeymoon with our longest stay of the holiday being 7 nights at the Albergo Asnigo. Though I would agree with some people's comments about the noise levels - waiters dragging tables late at night and air con unit a bit noisy, I would also like to say what a great find the hotel is. I would also recommend the town of Cernobbio - we saw a few others on various days out and Cernobbio was the one that we liked the best, and it is only a short trip into Como.
If you stay there, make sure you take some trainers as it really is a tough walk up the hill from Cernobbio, especially when it is sunny and hot - but the pool is nice a refreshing to jump into when you get up there.
The highlight of the hotel is of course the view, it is spectacular. It seems to change every time you look at it, I think that from it's high spot on the hill you gain more of the view than the hotels that are nearer to the water. Another highlight is the staff. We found them so helpful, great English, made us feel really relaxed and comfortable as soon as we arrived. Fabio and the reception team are great, as are all of the waiters. We were lucky that as they knew it was our honeymoon, they upgraded us to one of their two floored suites, with balcony view of the lake - could even see the lake from the bed, perfect!
Food is really good in the hotel, well presented, though not a huge amount of choice, all really tasty. If you stay there though I would recommend asking when you arrive if there are any evenings that you cannot eat there as they have quite a few weddings and other functions there. If there are nights that you cannot eat there though it is not a huge problem as there are a few local places just a few minutes walk away, we liked the Della Torre, good food and the waiting staff were really good fun! There were also a lot of Italians eating there which must be a good sign! There are also a number of good restaurants in Cernobbio - but you'll need to get a taxi back, walking up the hill in the dark after wine would not be good (taxi about 10 euros).
All in all we really enjoyed it here, the ambience, view, people, food. I would recommend it but might not be good if you are not up for a bit of walking!
