it's a small hotel just above the well known Villa D'Este.
It has a beautiful view from some rooms, restaurant and swimming pool.
The room as are clean but need a renovation.
the restaurat is nice with a very good chef (book it in advanced because is always full!)
The Manager is very nice an professional.
Very good location for weddings!

“Not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

The hotel is well located above the hills with a magnificant view over the Lake of Como. The taxi to Como was about 17 Euro. The rooms are clean but very simple: only equipped with a small TV and no air-con (not nice during the summer). Basically, the rooms need a renovation.
The service during the day was excellent, but the night portier wont help you out. I would rate it as a 2-3 star hotel which is seriously overpriced.

“Terrific Views, Rooms shabby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We upgraged to a de-lux room with a terrace and lake view. The view from the terrace was fantastic. The rooms however were very disappointing, very odd shabby scuffed furniture, no dressing table with mirror, shower very small cubicle and no working safe.

The customer service after an intial disapppointment of being given the wrong room was good and reception staff helpful.

Breakfast was ok.

Location - for the great view you pay by being on a hill which is a 15 min walk to centre going down hill, but very steep on the way back takes about 25 mins and you would need to be reasonably fit. Taxi 10 euros one way which is my opinion very expensive for 2 mins.

Dinner - Hotel does meals most nights although twice was not on on the 6 days we were there. The meal was nice with again fantastic views , but the two other resturants at that level Della Torre and Rigamonti Calzature were more value for money and in my opinion just as nice.

It is a shame this hotel has not updated the rooms as this is a major failing nowhere near the standard required for cost of room. I loved the location but would not stay again unless the rooms got updated.

“Dirty, cheaply furnished and in great need of a renovation.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

We booked the hotel through a "smart box" gift voucher for one night ( coupon was supposedly for charming hotels only). The reception forgot to tell us there was a wedding planned at the same time, though that was the least of this poorly managed hotel mistakes.
The first cobwebs and and dust are visible from the elevator already. The room almost had a view on the lake and was for four people. Upon entrance, the extreme wear on the laminated floor sets the tone. Dust had not been removed in month, especially in not so hard to reach places (stairs handle, behind every doors). The fabric covered bedheads were yellow from hair grease and had cracks! The bath room tiles were mouldy. Every single piece of furniture looked like it had just been picked up the streets minutes ago. Overall poor quality and design, scratches and wear marks were not up to a 4* level.
The tv set looked older than me, its scren size (30cm)must have been suitable for a trailer in the 80's. When confronted with the poor state of the room, the hotel manager told us to get used to it and that the hotel was full anyway. The voucher had been filled in by then and cancellation was too late. Note to self: always check the quality of the room before check-in.

“A great honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2008

We have just come back from a european road trip honeymoon with our longest stay of the holiday being 7 nights at the Albergo Asnigo. Though I would agree with some people's comments about the noise levels - waiters dragging tables late at night and air con unit a bit noisy, I would also like to say what a great find the hotel is. I would also recommend the town of Cernobbio - we saw a few others on various days out and Cernobbio was the one that we liked the best, and it is only a short trip into Como.

If you stay there, make sure you take some trainers as it really is a tough walk up the hill from Cernobbio, especially when it is sunny and hot - but the pool is nice a refreshing to jump into when you get up there.

The highlight of the hotel is of course the view, it is spectacular. It seems to change every time you look at it, I think that from it's high spot on the hill you gain more of the view than the hotels that are nearer to the water. Another highlight is the staff. We found them so helpful, great English, made us feel really relaxed and comfortable as soon as we arrived. Fabio and the reception team are great, as are all of the waiters. We were lucky that as they knew it was our honeymoon, they upgraded us to one of their two floored suites, with balcony view of the lake - could even see the lake from the bed, perfect!

Food is really good in the hotel, well presented, though not a huge amount of choice, all really tasty. If you stay there though I would recommend asking when you arrive if there are any evenings that you cannot eat there as they have quite a few weddings and other functions there. If there are nights that you cannot eat there though it is not a huge problem as there are a few local places just a few minutes walk away, we liked the Della Torre, good food and the waiting staff were really good fun! There were also a lot of Italians eating there which must be a good sign! There are also a number of good restaurants in Cernobbio - but you'll need to get a taxi back, walking up the hill in the dark after wine would not be good (taxi about 10 euros).

All in all we really enjoyed it here, the ambience, view, people, food. I would recommend it but might not be good if you are not up for a bit of walking!
