“Mixed feelings about the Hotel Marconi - not for travelers!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2009

I stayed in one room with my three children in August. We had been traveling and left our luggage on the floor the first day since there was nowhere else to put it except on two chairs - the room just fit the four single beds. One of our suitcases had several items of clothing hanging out onto the floor. The cleaning ladies left pools of cleaning fluid on the floor and I could not wash it out of the clothes by hand (I tried 4X). We slipped in the room and it took the color off of our sandals. I worked hard to clean it up! I was very nice about it, and the proprietor took a couple of items home to wash in her machine, but she insulted us terribly in Italian to my daughter's friend. I was mortified when I found out, but that was a couple of days later! Don't go there if you are traveling - we stayed 3 nights and this is a hotel for people who just go to Cattolica and stay for a week or longer. Compared to Rome, Florence, and Venice, this was the most expensive and by far the most basic hotel we stayed in. Also, I do not recommend this hotel to those who do not speak Italian.

“Friendly, family-run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2009

We stayed on a half-board basis at the Hotel Marconi in late August 2008. The hotel is located off the main beach front area on a fairly quiet, narrow side street, although like all other Italian seaside resort hotels in our experience it shares a section of the beach (as usual, you have to rent a parasol and sun-loungers for the duration of your stay, but all well-organised and efficient with clean toilets, changing rooms etc. nearby).
Our room was en-suite with a small balcony and effective air-conditioning but otherwise very basic. However, we soon got used to the room and other aspects of our stay at the hotel were much more positive. The hotel is run by several generations of the same family, all of whom were very friendly towards us and seemed to take a genuine interest in how we were getting on. Wonderful, freshly-cooked food each night from a fairly limited but perfectly acceptable menu, along with good, reasonably-priced wine.
Not sure if we would go back to Cattolica again, but if we did we wouldn't hesitate to return to the Hotel Marconi.

“Recommendation, Hotel Marconi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2008

My first visit to Hotel Marconi was in 1967 together with students from Norway. I visited the place again with a friend in 2001. My husband and I have been guests there in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Hotel Marconi is a small familyrun hotel, where the owners do everything they can to make the guests feel at home. They are friendly and professional. We will especially mention the kitchen, that makes every meal an experience. The owner of the hotel, who is cock, is himself responcible for the culinary experiences.

The hotel is situated in a nice little town, only 3 minutes walk from the beach by the Adriatic and within easy rode of other picturesque sights.

You will always be taken good care of at the Hotel Marconi. We warmly recommend the place to friends and relations and everybody.

Greetings from Bodil,
Oslo, Norway.

“Wonderful Family Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2007

We recently returned from a stay at Hotel Marconi in Cattolica.

It's a family run hotel. Very near the beach and a 5-10 min walk to the center of Cattolica.

The Hotel is run by Floretta and her husband (who is the chef) along with her son Danielo and daughter Catterina. They are such wonderful and helpful people, really friendly and will go out of their way to help. They even arranged to have a taxi pick us up from Rimini airport, which took only around 20-30 mins, and wouldn't break the bank. The hotel is located off the beaten track, so it is nice and quiet, unlike many of the other hotels which are located either right in the centre, which gets very noisey at night, or on the main road along the beachfront, which is also very noisey, which would make having your breakfast/lunch/diner outside a rather unattractive option.

The hotel has a fishing theme to it, is clean and well organised. The room we staying in looked a little tired and the overhead fan was a little noisey (to be fair we didn't tell them about this, so maybe they didn't know), but it had a nice bathroom and all that you would need was provided. The maid came daily and changed the towels, and there was airconditioning. You can have your meals there included in the price and the food was good. The service from the waitresses was also excellent.

There is a designated beach for the hotel 5 minutes away, but you do have to pay for this. You need to book a sunbed and parosol from the chap as you enter the beach area.....(don't do what I did on the first day and just pick any free one, as you'll get told off....! Although he was very civilised about this)..it is a bit pricey.....I think we paid 50 ish Euros for 4 days.....you book the number of days you want in advance.

The beach is sandy which was nice. Lots of Italians and Germans seem to holiday there..no English lager louts looking for fish and chips...which, I have to say, was nice. The water however was not so clear...but people were swimming and chilling out on the moored boats.

Go to the centre, and there you'll see lots of cafes and bars.....and the icecream is heavenly !! There are also lots of fashion shops/boutiques (most stay open very late), and some great fountains too.

We booked the hotel directly by calling them on the telephone number on their website. They speak English well...(although Danielo and Catterina sometimes had a difference of opinion when it came to translating the menu for me......very funny!) . They also speak German and French.

We took a trip to nearby Riccione where we went to a kind of aquapark which has dolphins......very good for the kids (although we don't have any, so good for adults too) and a good show was put on...definately recommend it.

We liked our stay very much and would go back.

Hope this gives you a good idea of what you could expect.

Happy holiday !!

GM, from London.

“Holiday in Cattolica”

I really want to express my satisfaction: my holiday at Hotel Marconi was wanderfull! I spend there only a few days during the summertime, but it was enough to relax. Hotel Marconi is a friendly family ran hotel, the atmosphere is nice and pleasant: you are on holiday but the owner's kindness makes you feel like home!! It is extremely customer focused: homemade food and sweet desserts prepared by Mario chef and owner of the Hotel. The garden is beautifully decorated, it reminds me english cottages...flowers are everywere, it's such a nice feeling!
The Hotel accepts pets, and also my Spotty (a little poodle) enjoyed the holiday. Over all I would say this is probably one of the best hotel I ever stayed.
