I just returned from a 6 night stay at this beautiful hotel. I thought I would be the only one with young kids (7 and 9) but there were many other families, as well. There was also a good mix of older and younger couples. We had two rooms at ground level, with french doors. Every room seems to be individually furnished and not all of the same spaciousness. We had rooms 8 and 9. If you can have a choice, room 9 is much more spacious, and has two french doors. The breakfasts were the same each morning, but it had enough selection that you were never bored with it. In fact, it was the best breakfast I had in all of Italy. There were fresh croissants, fresh fruit, pastries/cakes, hard boiled eggs, an assortment of cereals, jams, rolls, cheeses and deli meats. The entire property is elegant, clean and very quiet. It doesn't make you want to leave!! The pool is very deep, so if you have kids that can't swim, maybe not a good idea. It is quite a distance to walk into town (Castellina), but it makes for a very short car ride, with no problems for parking. There are a good assortment of places to eat in town. The only thing that could use some improvement is the level of service sometimes offered. It would have been more helpful if reception would provide maps of the area (instead of telling me to buy one in town), and provide more useful information about driving directions. You need a car to travel the area, don't rely on buses as it will take too long. Siena and Firenze are both very close by car. A beautiful stay and highly recommended.
