We hadn't booked anywhere in Bressanone and initially looked at the Best Western. As is usual, we asked to look at a room and immediately decided it wasn't for us - old furniture/furnishings and a nice big stain in the middle of the carpet!
However, opposite , on the other side of the river we spotted the Goldener Adler and wandered over to see if they had any room. The reception staff were most helpful and one of the porters showed us 3 of the 4 rooms they had available. All were clean, large and comfortable and the only reason we looked at 3 rooms was because 2 had showers and we wanted a bath.
Room rate was €106 per night which included breakfast. Car parking was seen to by hotel staff and brought back at the time of departure.
The hotel had a small pleasant bar area.
The hotel is almost in the centre of the historic 'old town', which features old winding streets, great shops and a few good places to eat. The piazza is only 100 metres away and has a beautiful old church next door to the cathedral - both heavily decorated in the Italian Style.
The staff speak good English, Italian & German which makes dealing with them so much easier. All in all, we considered this to be a lucky find and will definitely return.
