“Loved my brief stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2009

This was the very first time my husband and me left home without having booked our destination hotel in advance. We decided to spend two days in beautiful Bressanone. We went there in April so we though we wouldn't have any problems in finding a free room and that was right. Being low season, many hotels seemed to be closed and ready to re-open by the end of the month.

The Goldener Adler Hotel (meaning the "Golden Eagle") was steps from the city centre and looked gorgeous seen from outside. We asked if they had free rooms and we were given a junior suite for the daily rate of 66 € per person breakfast included. We were with our car and we needed to pay extra 6,5 € daily for the parking.

The room was spacious and nice, not really a junior suite but we liked it very much though, because it was very cosy, well equipped and beds were extra comfortable. The room had also a delicious balcony overlooking the river. The hotel is a 4* and surely deserves it, but no more, because it doesn't have all amenities you may ask for a 5*. The hotel offers also jacuzzi and sauna, but not a swimming pool.

The common areas and lobby are simply beautiful and cosy. We asked for in-room breakfast and it didn't disappoint us, being simply delicious!

“Meh, decent enough but not very memorable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2008

This hotel is rated as a 4-star hotel, but I really don't know why. It's your typical renovated old building with bland cheapish furniture and an underwhelming bathroom. The tv is some $50 super curved old tube, the pillows were over 12" of stiff foam which I couldn't use because it made my neck stiff.

The rooms were clean enough, large enough, but neither nice nor horrible. I wouldn't recommend it, nor would I dissuade anyone from staying here.

Just average.

“Quiet stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2008

We stayed here while one of us went to a conference and the other came for vacation. They had an amazing breakfast (fresh OJ, eggs, breads, great cheeses, veggies, meats, cereal, capuccini, etc.), a small bar, internet access (for a fee), nice sheets. Do ask to have another room if you are not thrilled with the view--they have some with nicer views than others. There is a solarium on the top floor. The desk staff were helpful, the housekeeping staff was a little pushy if you were not ready when they were for the room to be done up. Only English channel on TV was CNN. Tall ceilings and low beds in room. Shoe shining machine in stairwell.

“Eagle's flight: loved the Adler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2005

The Goldene Adler (listed among Hotels de charme) is the perfect place in Bressanone/Brixen. Restaured in 2001, it was -during the centuries, the stop-over for the likes of Montaigne and various emperors and queens.
It is very tastefully decorated, with period furniture mixing with contemporary pieces. The owners are the same of the restaurant "Oste scuro", with excellent local cuisine. Rooms are of different categories and prices, but all invariably large and well equipped. Breakfast is a feast.
Service is bespoke: we ere amazed to realize that -from one year to the next- staff remembered that my husband wants two pillows and found an extra-one in our room on arrival!
Free Turkish bath and sauna. Lovely bar and lounge.
