If you are looking for a full service or friendly, quaint hotel in the Dolomites, do NOT stay at Goldenes Rossl. The hotel is also known in Italian as 'Cavallion d'Oro'. The reservationist (who turned out to be the manager, Anna Stolz) failed to mentioned until the day prior to our arrival that the entire hotel staff had vacation days. And there would be no back-up or replacement staff to facilitate our stay. It was extremely frustrating to have no service and arrive on vacation expecting some basic hospitality. We felt 'cheated' and would have changed hotels if we would have known this in advance. Even a small discounted rate would have made us feel better.
In addition, our bags were lost (no fault of the hotel) and in order to track them down, we had to use their phone to call the Venice airport. We found someone/staff? to make the call to the airport for us but upon checking out, we were told that we had to pay for the calls - about 5 Euros to 'help us out'. It left such a terrible taste to a stay there, have no service but then need to pay extra for the minimal 'help' we did receive. Also, do not ask the 'chef' in the dining hall for help either...he basically scowls at you and tells you to wait for someone else.
Not worth staying at this hotel -- there are plenty of other beautiful options for the same 110 Euro price in this picturesque town.
