Just returned from a Lochs and Glens Holiday at the Loch Awe Hotel.
The Hotel is full of character, and the views down the Loch are fantastic!
Kilchurn Castle is a lovely sight in the Sun, Rain or Mist!
The Hotel room my friend and I shared was room 214, a large room with a double and single bed, a well equipped Bathroom with a double shower, it was situated on the Loch side but just to the side.
The Decor was reasonably new, the Bed was comfy, and the floor went downhill!
It was clean and tidy, and had everything you needed.
The only annoying thing was that the Towels only seemed to cater for size 16 and below!
If you are wanting a Bath Sheet take your own!
The Food was really very nice, a good choice at Breakfast, and the Evening Meal.
Although some people said that Beans or Mushrooms with the "English Breakfast" would have been nice.
The Bar, was well situated and the prices were reasonable. i.e a red wine and a white wine spritzer were under £5.
The excursions included in the price were well worth while, especially Iona and Mull.
The Oban excursion in which the free time in Oban is 5 hours, was probably too long as we struggled to fill the time.
Especially as it was raining, although on a nice day I am sure you could fill 5 Hours.
However there was an optional trip available,(attached to the Oban trip) at a cost of £5, but it wasnt explained well by our driver, and we chose not to take it, which proved to be a mistake.
Most people thought it was to an Island of Seals, but it was in fact to a pair of Islands which used to be the "Slate Quarrying Area" and was apparently very interesting.
People expecting Seals were disappointed!
The Evening Entertainment was generally,,,,,,,,,Keyboard and Singing,,,,,,,or Guitar and Singing................maybe something a tad more traditional might have been nice, although saying that there was Scottish Dancing on the last evening, performed by the staff.
Most of the Staff werent Scottish!
All in all value for money and good company, mainly 60-80 age group.
Outside of the Hotel was the Tight Line Pub, and the Post Office/Grocery Shop, and a few houses, other places of interest were Kilchurn Castle, a 3/4 hour walk, and Conan's Kirk,15 Min walk.
