“wonderful owners and a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

I stayed at the Rowbourgh hotel with my partner and two children, the owner sue was an excellent host and made us all feel so welcome.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are large with a great choice of food.
The bedrooms are well equipped and extremely comfortable.
There was a great choice of drinks at the bar and open every night, the Rowbourgh even has wi-fi which i found a great bonus.
i would definatly recommend this hotel and can't wait to come and stay with sue and ron again, thankyou both for your great hospitality.

“Really bad stay”

Stayed at the Rowborough for 3 nights in July.Sue (owner) insisted we pay up front on arrival which i thought was strange as well travelled and usually pay on check out?.Taken to room no:9.Tired and dated.Bathroom floor very badly laid.Suite did not match and everytime you had a shower, the floor was saturated.Stipulates in the guest book that the bar is open all the time they are awake.Came down to the bar area on our first night and was met by a very alarmed Sue(owner).Asked could we purchase a drink at the bar before going out.She was horrified and said her guests were about to dine and we could not have a drink. On return to the hotel that evening you felt as if you were intruding someones living room.Have to walk through conservatory/porch to get in and out of Hotel.Came down to breakfast the next morning and sat at a table.Sue(owner) came flying out of the kitchen area informing us that we had sat at the wrong table. At this point i felt extremely unwanted at this establishment.Angry as it was an anniversary treat for my husband.Shame we paid up front as i would have gone elsewhere!.The guests that frequent this property are regular visitors and clearly take priority over anyone else that stays there, but happy to take our money,i suppose!.All in all i would not regard this place as a Hotel, but more of a B&B.Suitable for the eighties and incontinent folk out there.Appalled and upset as it was meant to be such a nice break.Dreaded getting up and going to breakfast.Dreaded coming back in the evening......What does that say!!!Good one for the Hotel Inspector!!!!.

“Loved this hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

We have just returned from a 4 night (half-board) stay at the Rowborough Hotel, and found this to be excellent accommodation. Our first floor room was large, comfortable and had all the usual facilities, large en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space, television with dvd, hairdryer etc. It even had a trouser press!
There was a choice for breakfast and Sue cooked everything to order. For dinner, we had a varied choice every night - and we had a good selection of vegetables to accompany the meal.
If we had one complaint it would be the fact that there was only cans and bottled beer available in the bar - no draught beers. However, this aside we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and wouldnt hesitate to recomment this hotel to anyone.

“Happily back again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2010

We enjoyed our stay so much last year that we returned again for five nights this year. This time just my wife and I and our little dog. Warmly greeted on arrival by Sue and even Penny the house dog was pleased to see us it seemed. Everything superbly clean and an excellent evening meal, freshly cooked and absolutely piping hot. If we have any down comment to make it would be about the breakfasts - they made us put on weight!! You could not wish for more; cereal and orange juice of course, and then two rashers of bacon, egg, hashbrown, sausage, mushrooms, tomato and so on - all fresh and piping hot -and as much toast as required. We enjoyed our stay again and no doubt will return. Thanks Sue and Ron for your welcome and care and Maggie for such a clean hotel.
