“Great friendly hoilday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We went for a long weekend and had a very restful time. Lesley booked our Ferry and our room was ready when we arrived we were greeted by Bernie.

The food was all Home cooked and tasted delious none of this pre packed stuff. Our room was clean and tidy with coffee/tea facilities and it looked out onto the garden.

We will definatly be going there again!!

“Fantastic Holiday - Great food”

We stayed at this hotel many times and had great holidays. Bernie and Lesley have always made us welcome, infact this year they also remembered it was my Husbands birthday and made a delicous Chocolate cake for him. The Breakfast and Evening meals were very taste and the choice was very good,We took my mother with us and Lesley was really good at providing something taste for my mother to eat when she did not fancy what was on the menu. We had entertainment on a few nights but thats ok who needs entertainment when you have Bernie. Bernie & Lesley and their family are really frendly people and treat you like they have known you for years, nothing is to much trouble.
The garden at the front of the hotel was plesent to sit in with the Roses hedge and flower beds in bloom and this year the Hotel had been painted in a lovely peach colour. Our room was clean and tidy in a wine colour theme & looked out onto the Garden and you could see the sea, it was great to open the door and sit outside with a cup of tea first thing in the morning.

This is a dog friendly hotel, I don't have a dog my self as I work, but While we were there two people turned up and asked if they could stay as they had 2 dogs and could not find anywhere to stay that took dogs. Bernie sorted them out straight away this a room. And told them they could bring their 2 dogs up to the Bar in the eveninng. This they did.

They make your holiday stress free as they booked our ferry and also got us A wheel chair for a few day's for my mother to use. We will definatly go again and take the Grandson next time as he enjoyed it 2 years ago when we took him.

“Dreadful shabby hotel”

Many years ago this was a good hotel, sadly it is now a hotel that needs millions spent on it to update the shabby interior. The efforts of the new owners with a DIY mentality make Fawlty Towers look like the Ritz. Visitors that recommend this hotel must be the elderly with poor eye sight that enjoy meals on wheels leftovers ! If you buy a package that includes the ferry, accommodation and meals prepare to be disappointed. I’m not joking the meals are appalling. The new colour scheme of orange walls will make you wear dark glasses. The hotel is run like an institution with owners who shout at the elderly guests if they are late for meals. A hotel next door of a similar design was demolished August 2011, the same should happen to the Curraghmore Hotel.

“Great hotel with fantastic hospitality”

I stayed at the Curraghmore Hotel for a short break in early June 2011 with my Mother and Son. From the very start the service and friendliness we received from Bernard and Lesley was first class. We were all made to feel like part of the family, they could't do enough for us! Shanklin has a wonderful traditional seaside holiday feel and The Curraghmore was all you would hope for in a British seaside hotel. For the price we found the rooms to be really good, and the breakfast and evening meals to be of a very high standard. In all it was excellent value. We all had a fantastic time at The Curraghmore and we hope to return again soon.

“Friendliest and most welcoming hotel we have stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

My wife and I together with our two sons (23 & 20) stayed here for a week and didn't want to leave. Bernie and Lesley are very lovely people with a warmth that makes up for any shortfalls the hotel has. Bearing in mind this is a very old building that needs a lot to be done to it ( as does any old building ), it is comfortable to stay in. Yes there are lots of steps but there again so do most of the hotels around there due to the fact it is a hilly area. Nothing was too much trouble for them to do for us, including varying off the menu when we asked. All the food is home cooked to an excellent standard, so much so that we all put on extra pounds and never left the table hungry. A nice touch was when we asked for mugs of tea instead of cups Bernie couldn't bring them out fast enough to us. The location is superb, close to the beach, town and pubs with breath taking sea views from most of the rooms. Will definitely go back there next time we visit the Island
