“The Bridge, Walshford”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Just enjoyed a Murder Mystery evening at the hotel organised specifically for our group.
The service was excellent all round with very pleasant and helpful staff from the initial organisation right through to the end of the event.
Despite there being quite a number of guests, the food was good with a nice initial choice, and was served hot and pretty much all within a small timeframe, which is a definite plus when being part of an event booking.
The hotel has undergone a refurb and looks good, and this is borne out by the fact that it seems to be continually busy.
So go on spoil yourself, stay over and treat yourself to a Spa Treatment.

Room Tip: Haven't evaluated the rooms or other facilities as we didn't stay over as it's to close...

“Sad Family Occasion”

We travelled from Ireland for a funeral recently, and, not knowing the area, picked the Bridge from the internet. After a difficult and tiring drive from Holyhead (mainly because of an incorrect setting on the Garmin GPS) we arrived in the dark and rain. The moment we stepped into the Hotel our spirits were lifted by the efficiency and kindness shown by the staff. After a good night's sleep we discovered we were in beautiful surroundings. The breakfast buffet had to be seen to be believed! We spent Two nights there, and left with a determination to return again to this delightful place. Thank you!

“Dreadful”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This was our second visit to the Bridge Spa.
We were greeted in reception and told that the spa was very busy and we should go to the bar to wait for half an hour, when we were eventually allowed to go in we were given wet towels and told a robe would be given to us in the Spa. An hour and half later i had to go back into the hotel to ask for robes.
The shower didnt work which was not ideal as having spent 20 min the steam room and sauna we were not able to shower off. Not very hygineic.
There was no working light in the sauna and i tripped as i was not able to see.
Two young girls had taken glass into the spa and broken one so there was glass all over the floor. As there was no staff member present in the spa to report this too it was decided to pull the emergency cord to summon help. This did not work. We then had to once again walk over to the main hotel to report this. We were then made to feel responsible for the glass.
All in all not a very pleasent stay.

“Nice hotel, but not a four star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

When we arrived a receptionist was busy with a card machine and told us "won't keep you a sec" then proceeded to talk to a colleague about whatever the issue with the machine was. We were eventually served a by another receptionist who had been on the phone.

We had a suite, which was very nice, the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The shower consisted of mixer taps on the bath, but this was not a problem. The radiator in the room was not on, but on opening the wardrobe doors, there was heat coming from there from the pipes inside the wardrobes, and as we did not want to complain, we thought that made the room warm enough, although when the radiator did work on the second day, there was a vast difference in the room temperature.

The suite was placed on a small landing and accessible up a small flight of stair and a landing door. We found it very difficult to sleep on both nights due to other guest noisly tramping up and down the stairs and banging the landing door, which was almost outside our suite. A notice on the door reminding guests to be considerate to other guests and closing door quietly may alleviate the problem, but all in all the location of the room is not great.

The main problem was the lack of hot water. I had a bath on Sautrday eveing and my husband went to run it again, but the water was cold. I called reception who told us the manager was very busy witha "murder mystery evening" and would not be able to sort in out straight away, hence not a happy husband who had to go out on Sat evening without having had a bath. When we arrived back after an eveing out, we were told the problem was fixed. A bath was run, which was at best lukewarm and the water then turned to cold.

The breakfasts were very good, apart from being served a pot of cold coffee on the firts monring and when I asked for a fresh hot pot, it did not materialise and I had to ask again.

In my opinion, the hotel is not a 4 star, some of the staff are in need of customer service training and the lack of hot water means I will not be recommending the hotel to family and freinds, which is a shame as the hotel is in a good spot for sightseeing.

Room Tip: We had a suite, which was very nice the bedroom was large and so was the bathroom, although there wa...
