Walking into this hotel was a real eye opener for me. I am shocked and amazed that accomodation of this appallingly low standard is still in existence in 2011. The Fairhaven is more a retirement home than a hotel, with decor and furnishings to suit its very elderly clientel. This hotel was booked for us, but we could not bring ourselves to spend even one night in this place and checked into the nice modern Premier Inn up the road. The room in the Fairhaven had not been modernised since it was first decorated in what I presume was the sixties. The television appeared to have its own secondary glazing and the bed covers consisted of an itchy old blanket with a sheet. There were net curtains in the window, yellowing gloss paintwork, tatty old lampshades and a grimy old carpet to name just a few of the rooms highlights. The Fairhaven also appeared to have a curfew as we were asked what time we would return that night, never was our answer. I am amazed that people pay for accomodation such as this, especially as it was no cheaper that a room in a proper budget hotel chain. Do yourself a favour, if you come to Weymouth book the Premier Inn.
