I stayed here in July with my boyfriend and parents, who were visiting the UK from New Zealand. I wanted to take them somewhere peaceful away from London for a few days. When looking for accommodation in the New Forest I really struggled to find any B&Bs that had two rooms available, so Careys was a lifesaver.
The bigger room (which my parents took) was definitely better value and more comfortable, so if you stay here ask for that room if possible.
As the previous reviews state - this is a very homely place. It's not the tidiest but it is charming, so as long as you're not a 'neat-freak' or expecting hotel quality then you should enjoy staying here. Bathroom and shower are shared. The location is perfect for doing lots of walks and Marcelle was happy to advise on different routes. She also recommended an amazing indian restaurant in town for eating one evening.
If you have any food allergies I would suggest letting Marcelle know in advance as my boyfriend is allergic to dairy and there was no soy-milk on site. When we asked Marcelle if she could get some for breakfast the following day she declined saying she needed to know earlier. He ended up having water on his cereal!
One small warning - this is a very pro-christian household, full of (in my view) religious propaganda. Personally I just ignored it, but if that kind of thing bugs you then I wouldn't stay here. Marcelle was very up-front with her views and in our very first conversation stated that "the Muslims were taking over Europe and they needed to be stopped". Again I just laughed this off (everyone to their own) but if you're Muslim then I would recommend not staying here.
