Friendly staff, wonderful food in huge portions, excellent location, warm fires and sweeping staircases, what more could you ask for?

I was in the area early January on a training course. I couldn't have stayed in a more warm, welcoming and friendly hotel. My room was comfortable and spotless. I was well looked after by both Mark and Sarah. The food was first class and plenty of it. They were both extremely helpful as i didn't know the area so they really did look after me. Even the locals took me under their wing and we had many a pleseant evening at the bar.

I will be going back but this time, i think i will take my family as this is such a relaxing hotel to stay in.

We go to the Tyrell Food for lunches and dinners on a regular basis. Laterly in December 2011. We are usually a large group and have not been disappointed in the service of the staff or the food. Whether it be bar or restaurant meals the quality and choice of fayre is always good. The surrounding grounds are also very pretty.

We were rather disappoined in our room which was very dusty. The bathroom had one or two cracked tiles and there was a large chip in the bath. Behind the toilet there was a pipe that had been leaking and had left a rather nasty looking brown mark. the louvre windows in the bathroom were filthy and near the bathroom mirror in all rooms was a notice which read "due to ongoing maintenance the water quality cannot be guaranteed" What did this mean ? Under the circumstances a litre bottle of water would have been appreciated. The toiletries in the bathroom were generous. The electric kettle was dusty and there was water left in it, which I don't like! However, the hotel is not without charm but needs some money spent on it. I know that a building of that age eats money but some improvements like getting rid of damp patches would be good. It took 15 mins. for a member of staff to check us out!
