I have stayed here 5 or 6 times over the last two or three years, usually on occasions when I don,t feel I can justify the much, much greater expense of the excellent Hambleton Hall Hotel which is a few miles away.
The Lord Nelson House is more of a restaurant with rooms, I think it has about six in all. The restaurent is absolutely first class, easily up to the standards of Hambelton Hall, although much less formal and with a less fussy menu. The rooms are all you can expect for the modest prices charged ( around £70 for a double room inc' breakfast),. They are all individually decorated with a 'Nelson' theme, and are clean and comfortable.
The Hotel is situated in a quiet corner of the market square in Oakham, which is itself a charming small town.
