We stayed at Gower's Close in April 2007 and weren't disappointed by the lovely building. It is a typical thatched cottage just as you'd wish to stay in when visiting the Cotswolds. I am sorry to say that this is as far as the Sawday's (this is who Gower's Close advertise through. Sawday's promote themselves as advertisere of "Special Places to Stay") description matched my experience. Our room was pleasant and comfortably furnished, but very cold without heating on a frosty spring morning, and the bathroom was in need of updating.
Our hosts were pleasant but not particularly warm or welcoming except to constantly reccommend the local pub for a meal. I think they must have been on some sort of commission!
Breakfast was the biggest disappointment as we were virtually told what we would be having: bacon and scrambled eggs. No full English breakfast here. One of us was lucky to get some museli offered as it was requested the night before, but if the others had decided cereal may be an option in the morning it was not offered.
Overall, I felt our hosts were frugal in their hospitality and gave as little as possible with regards to food and heating. The experience had little similarity to that described and I am sure there are much nicer and better value bed and breakfasts in the area.
