The hotel is a lovely hotel with nice dining room (in massive conservatory garden room) and great offering for breakfast that was a la carte with continental buffet offering also. Our room 19 top floor corner was a nice double with forward facing room and side window. All was clean and modern, this room looks as if it has been updated within the last 2 years or so.

Visiting other room, the décor was a little tired, so looks like there is a mix of new and old rooms. Check-in was painless though go on the internet to get the best deal after booking directly with the hotel we found a rate half the price on the internet, after querying this the hotel slashed their price by 40% to meet this price.

Great location in Buxton walking distance to the town and a good base for a walking the hills weekend

My wife and I stayed overnight for the first time on the 21st Jan, on arriving the the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. My wife is a wheelchair user but the hotel was very well laid out with access ramp, lift and wide corridors. (a big plus). The dinner and breakfast were excellent, good menu, food well presented, piping hot and very, very reasonably priced.The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom appeared to be new as it was fitted to a very good standard.
Any negatives - The heating in the room wasn't working, a quick call to reception and it was immediately rectified.
Would I stay there again - Absolutely.
Would I recommend it to friends - It would be rude not to.

I just wanted to say how impressed myself and my colleagues were by our Christmas party night on 16th December. The food was excellent and piping hot, the service was excellent and the whole evening was organised extremely well. This is the 3rd time we have been to the Lee Wood in the past 5 years and have to say that the Lee Wood is head and shoulders above the other local party night venues we have attended. Well done.

We booked via Late Rooms and just 20 minutes later arrived at hotel. The young receptionist lit up with a terrific smile and welcome and I said we had made a reservation but didnt know whether they had received it. Oh she said you are .... and with bright smile checked us in. I said I stayed a long time ago and instantly became a bit of a celebrity and all the staff were so friendly and talkative wanting to know what it was like then. Our room was at the top of the hotel with a grat view over the town and I'm pleased to say was just great with a king size bed and a new bathroom and the only thing we could find fault with was the remote control battery cover was loose! I took this down to reception and was given a sincere apology and they would replace it as quickly as they could. I said I only wanted a piece of sellotape over it and that would be good enough fix for me!
We also noted when thinking of eating out in town that the restaurant had a special offer in a local brochure and checking this was available to us we then made up our mind to eat in the hotel. The dinner was absolutely fantastic, food and service was second to none. It was freshly cooked and when my partner asked for something the waiter said he'd need to check but had seen the chef preparing some just minutes before. I hope more people in Buxton appreciate what a good restaurant it is.
Breakfast was also very good cooked to order with the usual buffet for cereals etc.
It was a shame we only stayed one night and wished we had spent the other two nights of our break here. However we will be going back here sometime as it is a gem.
