“Perfect rural retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We found this fantastic B&B by chance through the tourist information office guide and it surpassed all expectations. A lit fire on and offer of a ground floor room (+ a glass of wine) on arrival were perfect for Stuart's sprained ankle and crutches, and for me following a day of driving through perthshire's beautiful scenery. I knew this was my kind of place when Marjorie's two spaniels greeted us with a wam and noisy arrival and Humphrey the peacock sauntered across the wonderful lawns. A tasty breakfast (home made muesli, fresh fruit and the best scrambled eggs!) with Majorie in her kitchen and a shared love of Jeep Cherokees (perfect for the mile-long forest track) made our stay complete. Marjorie was a wonderful host, with a beautiful home and i can see why her guests book up again and again. Thank goodness these places still exist! Dunkeld is also a delightful village with a mouthwatering deli and gorgeous scenery.

“Nice stay if you like quiet and peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

In August 2011 we stayed one night in Upper Hatton. We were warned the road to the B&B was “forestry” but it took us some time to get to Upper Hatton. Driving a rental car and not being used to the right-hand wheel, it was an bumpy experience we’ll never forget ;-)
On arrival we were welcomed by Gordon and the dogs. Marjorie Ann was still at work in the town center and arrived some hours later. After a pick nick in the garden, we took off for a walk. The area is really peaceful and quiet. But even our teenage girls enjoyed fooling around with the dogs. Gordon, Marjorie Ann & Chris (a friend of the house) were really very friendly. And especially the men were really into a chat. The cosy open fire in the lounge ended the day perfect.
The rooms were nice and even had a welcome’s drink (whisky or port). One room had its private bathroom ensuite, the other had a private bathroom in the corridor. If we have to mention a small minus point : the third bed on one of the rooms was a bit uncomfortable.
Breakfast in Marjory’s kitchen was nice. Homemade jam, fresh fruit just picked that morning, yogurt, cereals, bacon & eggs and toast…
And the deer and peacocks who showed up at last, just as we were planning to take off made our stay complete

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

Tucked away in the hills near Dunkeld with excellent views, this was a hidden gem. And, well worth journey along the mile of track to reach it. First class accommodation and breakfast. Peacocks wake-up early so make sure you get an early night. Earplugs are supplied if you are a light sleeper. However, we will definitely return.

“Just splendid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

The setting is magnificent with wonderful views, peacocks in the grounds, deer at the bottom of the garden and a visiting pine marten (although sadly we didn't see him). Spacious room with v comfortable bed, home made yoghurt/muesli/jam, local berries and the full monty if you wish at breakfast. Decanters of sherry and whisky in the room and clean towels daily (never had that before in a B&B) and a supply of earplugs if the peacocks disturb you! Use of the large lounge. Marjorie is a fount of information about the area and nothing was too much trouble for her. Laid back atmosphere. The forest track up to the house might present a problem for low slung vehicles. Mobile coverage is not too good in the area generally.

“Cozy and Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

Home from home big spacoius room with four poster bed and en-suite bathroom with bath. There is a shower room downstairs which Marjory said we could use. She was lovely and very accomadating to her guests requirements. The room had everything you needed from a selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. To the arrival drinks in your room of either Whiskey or sherry. The towels in the bathroom were lovely and big and extremely soft just what you need after a soaking bath. Our stay was too short but would definately use Upper-Hatten again.
