I stayed in S-hotel Vaakuna in Mikkeli with my wife for one night. I had booked a superior room, which unfortunately was a dissapointment. Room was a standard room with coffee machine, nothing else. Luckily the room was very clean. Biggest negative aspect is that hotel and especially our room was boiling hot, almost unbearable to stay in. For some reason the hotel air conditioning system was not up to the task at all. Charging 115€ for such a poor sauna is not good.
Also hotel breakfast was not good at all. As an example, no one was cleaning the tables leaving customers to pile up used disces on the tables. Weird!
Positive in the stay was the hotel dinner restaurant, Fransmanni, which served good foor with reasonable prises. This restaurant you should try. Luckily you can visit this restaurant when staying in an other hotel.
Overall, I bet you can get a better deal when in Mikkeli than Vaakuna.

On a general level it's your basic traditional Finnish hotel chain facility. No thrills but good overall quality if you're looking for a decent sleeping place for your family.

All personnel were friendly and helpful starting from late check-in to late check-out and all between.

The hotel itself had the main building and a newer wing attached. We stayed in the wing, which we found more peaceful. The only downside (if one minds walking) was the little walk from the main building to the wing but hotels sometimes tend to cater for corridor marathons.

The breakfast was a good scandinavian version with a little twist of real local specialities. Good value for money and keeps you going until late afternoon, if you will. Also tried late night room service, which worked out well, too.

It was a nice hotel with Scandinavian style room we had in the quiet part of the hotel. This was good, because there is a night club in the same building. Staff was friendly and helped us with our requests and questions. Breakfast was good. Also parking was free in the cold garage which was a plus =)

This is your basic hotel, with nothing extra but nothing to complain about either. When we were staying we could've used air conditioning, which the hotel didn't have, but how often do you notice the lack in Finland? In our room there was noise from the street, but it didn't bother us, and I know from experience there are very peaceful rooms, too.

The restaurant had very good food, and the breakfast was nice.
