I stayed here for business and was stranded in Thessaloniki for an extra couple of days during the recent strikes. The hotel itself - location, rooms, aspect - was very good. Sea view rooms were incredibly well-positioned and the communal areas were all well-maintained. The breakfast choice was wonderful and truly 5 star.
The one thing that let the hotel down however was the general attitude of some (not all) of the staff, who seemed to range from bemused/ under pressure to decidedly unhelpful. Granted this was a time of high stress for much of the country, but it did seem like they could have done more to put their (equally uncertain) guests at ease during an eventful week.
Finally, on the day we left there was an enormous cardiovascular conference which saw the hotel reception area branded by the organisers and the lobby full of pharmaceutical stalls. This really did make for a raucous and not-very relaxing checkout, and I'm sure other hotel guests not involved with the conference would have felt equally out of place and sidelined.
Next time, despite those sea views, I think I'll choose somewhere more peaceful overall.
