“A great Past a bleak Present no Future...”

I have stayed in the resort for arpx 7 years. So i suppose i am qualified to give an insiders view.
Its a magical place, built on dreams , in one of the best places in Greece.
BUT then human greed creeps in to ruin the place. Due to an industrial dispute and the death of the dreamer- owner, the place was looted ,everything of the old glory stolen. Even the hand painted wallpapers, silver cutlery, ornaments, paintings. Dozens and dozens of truck fulls of stuff taken away.
The new owner, had nothing to do with hospitality business, just a stock exchange tycoon trying to make a quick buck.
The first impression you get when you enter the place is of a beutyfulll cemetery. All staff are sorrow long faces and not a smile. The staff feel like they are slaves and do their duties with minimum effort. ( when not on strike)
The food used to be great but now it reminds me of rations served in Siberia Gulags.

Pitty , it used to be a great place, a place for the European jet set but now its only low budget eastern tourist...

Room Tip: Stay at home , go elsewhere

“Porto Carras Experience”

We spent 2 weeks in Porto Carras. One week, july 201O, in Sithonia Hotel and another week, august 2011, in Meliton Hotel. When we entered the hotel complex for the first time we were astonished. The combination of sea view, marina, huge green landscape, vine yards etc. plus the architectonic uniqueness of the hotels is just awesome. Our stay in Sithonia Hotel was really pleasant, the rooms were comfortable, the staff was kind and the food was satysfying. My friends and I specially ejoyed the beach, which is perfect, and water sport facilities. Concerning sport facilities, Porto Carras is very well equiped (tennis courts, golf, horse riding, diving academy etc) and we took a great advantage of it. For our second stay, we went for Meliton Hotel, which is in the walking distance from its twin hotel Sithonia, just situated right next to the marina. I got to admit that compared to Sithonia, this is a real delux hotel. The view from Meliton Hotel sea-view rooms is really the one which takes your breath. The atmosphere of the hotels is not the same, Meliton Hotel gives you that kind of "this is something special" feeling. The food was slightly different, hard to say, which hotel is better from this point of view. To sum up, staying in Porto Carras Resort is a great experience, no matter which hotel you pick.

“You feel the history”

I stayed at the Meliton Hotel last August - September. The hotel needs some minor renovation but the resort is just beautiful. Number of private coves offer special romantic moments. The Marina Promenade is the ideal location for a walk before dinner. By staying in the Meliton you can use all the facilities of the resort and the other hotels. The casino is small (located in Sithonia Hotel) but has all the main games: slots, blackjack, poker, roulette and Texas hold 'm!

I believe that the location of Porto Carras is on of the best in Europe.

Other facilities use can have at the Porto Carras Grand Resort (I did not use) are: tennis, professional golf, horse back riding and SPA.

I will certainly return back.

We are a family with three kids. The older one is 8 and the youngest one is 2 years old. We spent 10 days at Meliton Hotel of Porto Carras last August and it was magnificent for all of us. Superior and spacious rooms that were everyday cleaned. Breakfast and dinner included great buffet with a variety of food everyday. And of course not to forget the great wines of the estate which is produced from local grapes and in many different varieties. The kids could enjoy the kids entertainment programme everyday -their favorite was the evening disco at the Sithonia hotel which is just 5minutes walk from Meliton. Great lagoons (pool) and beach. You could also go to nearby private beaches by bike as cars were not allowed. There was a big variety of sports one could choose, ranging from water sports to football, tennis and golf. There was even a small fun fair at the famous Porto Carras marina where the kids would spend hours. One night we tried the Ambelos taverna which is situated at the Village Inn on the marina. The food was excellent. To sum up in ten days we spent such a wonderful time that we would like to return soon. It could be next year!!!
