We stayed at the North Apartments for a few days before we moved on to Cosis Inn, and thought they were lovely spacey rooms, with fantastic views over the harbour. Nearby chill out bar was fantastic to sip wine and watch the sun go down over the Assos bay.

We got married in Santorini and as part of the honeymoon, wanted to spend some time in Assos, Cephalonia. We selected an apartment called North purely based on its web site. It seemed clean and the room adequate. When we arrived, we were horrified to find that the room smelt of old cigarettes. The air was musty. The bathroom was small and cramped with poor ventilation. The small ventilator, when turned on, appeared to give out more cigarette smoke smells.

The bed was so hard that it caused us pain if we laid on it too long. The air conditioning was adequate but seemed to bring in more cigarette smoke from the outside. The walls were paper thin and we could hear the neighbours.

We were also disappointed to find out that the rubbish from the last guest was not cleared. In fact, we saw the cleaners cleaning the house with cigarettes hanging from their mouths. This would certainly explain the smell of cigarettes in the room.

The next morning, we decided to move to a different apartment. When we approached the owner to ask for some of our deposit back (we will asked intially to put down about 1.5 nights deposit)but were told that we would not be compensated. We decided to cut our losses and move on.

If you are a smoker, this place would appeal to you because it appears to be a mecca for smokers. But our honeymoon would have been completely ruined if I had stayed there. Thank god for the other apartment we stayed in. Surely they could at least ensure that rubbish would have been cleared.

A complete disappointment. It was not worth the 65 Euros per night. Stay here at your own peril.
