“Good value hotel with a personal touch”

I've just come back from a week at Koala Hotel in Kos town and I had a wonderful time. The hotel is family run and all the staff are extremely kind, friendly and helpful. This was especially important to me as I was travelling on my own.

My room was very clean, with a small fridge, aircon & tv (with a variety of foreign channels including BBC 24 hours channel). There was a narrow balcony with a table and chairs and the windows were all double-glazed so no noises from the street, rubbish trucks etc..The bathroom was quite small but all newly re-done and showed good quality. Towels were changed regularly. I read reviews about the wifi coverage, but personally I found I could get it wherever I tried (my room - 3rd floor, roof terrace, reception). Breakfast was fine, especally that seasame bread and lurpack butter!

The hotel itself is only 5 mins walk to the town beach and about 10-15 mins to the town. There are several good restaurants nearby (ask Dimitri for recommendations) as well as a handy supermarket on the corner which seems open all hours! There is a car rental place opposite the hotel too.

General:
-Paradise beach is definately worth a visit, at least in the low season (I hear it gets very crowded in high season). You can get a local bus from the centre of Kos town which takes approx 40 mins.
-Kos town is an excellent base as there is a very good choice of restaurants and bars (not sure about clubs), as well as allowing you to take trips to nearby islands, or even a day trip to Bodrum (Turkey).

In summary, if I were to return to Kos, I would definately stay at the Koala. I found it was in an excellent location, with friendly staff, and very good value for money (I booked through the hotel's own webpage). I would like to thank the team for all that they did.

“Wonderful staff, comfortable”

It was our first time to a Greek island, and the Koala helped make it a memorable trip. The staff spoke excellent English and was helpful in advising us about things to do on the island. The rooms are quite small, but they had a mini fridge and a/c. The location was wonderful and within walking distance of the water. I highly recommend renting a bicycle (3 euros per day) and biking all over the island. The bike paths make it safe and enjoyable. I highly recommend the Koala Hotel for an affordable and comfortable stay.

“Good family hotel”

I stayed in hotel Koala on July 2011 and my experience was definitely good. Location is good (10 minutes walk to the central area), rooms are equipped with air conditioned (for free) and mini fridge. There is free wifi although the coverage area is quite small. The swimming pool is quite small but actually I didn't go to Kos for the swimming pool so it was not a concern.

The owner Dimitri and his mother are extremely gentle and they will explain you everything you need, from place to visit to buses... It's rare to find so nice owners !

The only thing that should be improved is that t they don't usually change the towels, but some friends of mine asked to do so and they did, so just ask, they will satisfy all your needs.

“an axperience to remember, stayed here for one month..”

i spent here the first 2 weeks alone, but never felt alone. This nice family who owns and works here took me in there arms. it was more" friend-friend" than "customer-employee".
Everybody is asking how i feel and if i need something starting from the "Mama" who works on the afternoons, Dimitris (son and manager) at the front disk on the mornings and evenings, Angelo in the bar for the night shifts, Sister.. and they know everything about this island and they always have the right information.
the room was clean, quiet, has all basic things (TV, extra blanket, air condition, fridge..). the swimming pool is clean, the temperature of the water is good. the bar has everything you need to start a successful evening with Angelo behind the bar you never feel bored with his sense of humor, they even have a happy hour from 19:30 to 20:30.
There is a shop on the other side of the street, the beach is a five minute walk away, many good restaurants near by.
i think I've spent an excellent stay here, I'm sure it could be less interesting if i stayed at some other hotel. four of my friends joined me here for my last week, and it was nothing else but fun.. :)

“price/quality above expectation”

Location of the hotel is ideal. We stayed 10 days, rented bikes and (for 1 day) a car. Have explored the whole island. Very friendly family hotel, always helpful, simple but good breakfast with bread, cheese, ham, marmelade, Greek yoghurt with honey, large bedroom with good matresses, excellent hot shower in a small bathroom, pity that the shower curtain was too small. Radio did not work.Room was very quiet during the night, except for some fighting cats. We had the swimmingpool all by ourselves the times we were there and that was like paradise. Room was cleaned every day. There was free wifi, but most of the time no good connection possible. Regarding the price it was above expectation!
