Our last night stay in Herklion at the Sofia was great. The rooms are spotless and well appointed, recently updated we understand. Rates excellent. It is close to the airport which means some noise so not recommended for a longer stay.

Adequate hotel, with no frills, which we used for a night's sleep having arrived late at the airport. Location was good, either 4 minutes in a taxi or a 12 minute walk from the airport entrance. Room simple but ok. Service was pretty terrible. Our late snack before bed was no better than ok, and the white wine nearly undrinkable. Breakfast was "served till 10am". We arrived about 9.40 and nothing was left! The waitress only very reluctantly went to get some bread and a couple if slices of cheese for us! Had it not been included in our rate, we would have refused it.

We’ve made Heraklion the base point to visit the east side of the island. Very comfortable hotel and good price/benefit ratio. The taxi transfer from Heraklion port was also included on the booking! The breakfast was very good and we’ve dinner every night on the hotel, served by the pool. We’ve booked two rooms, and they were very comfortable. Internet PCs and pre-paid wireless internet cards are available. I strongly recommend this hotel.

We spent one night at the Sofia Hotel on our way from Rithymnon to Athens. We were traveling with family and friends after a week in Rithymnon. We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to the airport. The hotel is set in a quiet area off the main street to the airport, but there are small directional signs along the airport road for the Sofia making it easy to find. The rooms were lovely, clean, and comfortable - even with three of us in the room with large luggage. There was a small balcony with a pleasant view of trees and foliage. Our room was surprisingly quiet even with airplane noise. The elevator is tiny, accommodating only one human and two pieces of luggage at a time. There is a bar, swimming pool, pleasant outdoor patio, and outdoor kitchen. We had dinner which was quite good. The hotel is within walking distance of other restaurants.
The staff was helpful, calling a taxi for us for the short drive to Heraklion airport to catch a pre-dawn flight. We were all very happy with our experience at the Sofia Hotel and highly recommend it.
