“amazing views & great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My husband and I made this our 1st stop of our Greek Honeymoon island hopping experience.. Our awesome villa was located across the bridge from the resort itself in the "village". I highly recommend you ask for the villa located at the highest point for the best views.. we were lucky to wake up to such amazing beautiful views of the bay & pier!! It was even more beautiful at night with the view of the the full moon hitting the water. Ours had a front & back balcony, steps to go down to the restroom & closets. There's lots of activities to do, and even had a night with pretty showgirls that danced in the hotel bar. Beautiful scenery, & lots of little romantic spots for walks. The service was top notch, and the room service menu was delicious. I didn't necessarily care to pay for towels at the beach, but sure.. ok. There is a store located inside of the hotel, but also across the street next to the villas. That is where we went to the most.. Walking distance to restaurants, and pubs. We ate at Kri Kri which had live music and Greek dancing at night.. so much fun! However, you can also take a taxi to town, and around. Also, not far from Elounda & Spinalonga Island.. another beautiful mini-trip to take. I don't know what it is like to stay inside of the actual hotel, just the larger villas outside.. I'm the rooms are just as nice. I would come back again.. enjoy!

“Couple- aged 18- Travelled June 2011- Half Board”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel itself was about a 20-25 minute walk into Ag Nik; the walk itself was along a dirt path occasionally but most of the way was on a nice pathway, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants on the way, so if you plan to walk into town even in midday you can stop for a drink.

Ag Nik itself is a lovely town, with many bars, restaurants and shops. There are many places to explore and the prices in town for drinks etc are a lot less than you will find in the Hotel. The marina itself is very pretty, and there is also a sandy beach on the way into town.

The hotel itself was very nice. The food was amazing. We only stayed half board but we really did not need anything else as we could help ourselves to a massive breakfast, then would be full until dinner time. For breakfast there was pretty much everything you could imagine, and dinner was much the same with themed nights and 2 different restaurants to choose from. One morning we sat outside and had a lovely view of the sea while eating our cereal; couldn’t really ask for more.

There quite a lot of areas to go in the day in terms of pool/beach. However as there is a charge for the sunbeds up until 3pm at the beach, so you need to be quick in getting a seat by the pool as they fill up quickly. There is a bar by the pool, and there is also a shop in the hotel which is okay- but not as cheap as the one opposite the hotel over the road. The beach itself is nice, but quite stony, but once your swimming it doesn’t really matter. It’s a nice place to lounge about during the day.

The room itself was clean, and quite big. The shower was fine, quite good water pressure etc, and there was nothing I could fault to do with the bathroom, they even had a hairdryer! There was plenty of storage space, and the room was cleaned regularly by the maids! We had the garden room view with a balcony, and to be honest it wasn’t the best view, but it was what we paid for and it was fine, as the balcony itself was nice, and you could see over onto the pretty gardens.

My only fault with this hotel is the price of drinks. We realized the price of drinks on the first night however, when me and my boyfriend each ordered a beer with our meal and a bottle of water; it is expensive, and the alcohol provided is placed in a tiny glass.

HOWEVER; if you are staying half board like we did; there is a solution. Not only is there a shop over the road which sells a wide range of alcohol at about half the price, they also sell massive 2litre bottles of water for about 2 euros. We asked the reception if we could have our mini bar in our hotel room to be emptied of all items, and they did so the next day, and we filled that up with lots of water/alcohol etc and we were fine.

We also found an amazing bar/restaurant called KRI KRI, about 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. We encountered it while on the way back from Ag Nik and we stopped for a drink, in which the owner of the bar/restaurant gave us free Raki, and tomatoes…don’t know why but we appreciated it! We then on went there every night as the hotel drinks were far too expensive and the entertainment not worth staying at the hotel for. For the same price of a beer back at the hotel you got about 3 times more beer at Kri Kri. The atmosphere was amazing, and Dimitris makes the most amazing cocktails you will ever taste! They made our stay in Crete amazing!

To end; we went on a few trips- to Knossos to visit the Minoan palace- which was worthwhile, we did it through our holiday company so we got a guide and tour, and although costly it was very worthwhile as we also got to look around Herklion.
However I would say if you venture into town, you will literally find about 20 cheaper deals for most of the trips; specially Spinalonga. Trips go from the harbour in the centre and it’s so easy to book a trip as you can just walk up to the boats.

Overall, I would say that if you are going to come to this hotel definitely go for All inclusive! The food, room, and hotel grounds are lovely, couldn’t fault them! But more worthwhile is the great location, right opposite the bus stop, only 20 minutes walk into town, Ag Nik is a perfect sunny town which is well worth a visit!

“Quite a mixed bag really”

Stayed here for 9 days in October. You have to pay for sun beds on the jetty, not sure why, you don,t have to pay around the pool. Enjoyed the entertainment, which was just as well because there was no where else to sit. It was too cold to sit outside on an evening. What the hotel needs is a nice bar inside a part from the large room where the entertainment was.
The hotel was very clean, the food was excellent. It looked as though someone had been sprinkling bleach on the carpets in the corridors of the hotel, they were all stained. Our room was noisy, 4th floor front of hotel above the reception near the road. The room floors were tiled, not sure if we had a flamenco dancer next door, I could hear her feet tapping most of the night and her husband snored (although that could have been her?) The staff were friendly apart from the hotel management, they didn't engage with the guests.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the pools. The village seems to get decent reviews.

“Simply stunning!”

We had a two week stay at this beautiful hotel in August but had never thought about sharing our experience until now. The Mirabello hotel is faultless! I have never met such friendly welcoming staff (including reception, restaurant, bars and maids) they can not do enough for you. The animation staff were fabulous - Johnny, Rafo, Soraya, Neele, Bobby, Anastasia, Mikki, Aysa (and any others I may have forgotton), you are what made our holiday! I simply can not fault a single thing. Our room was beautiful (with the most stunning of views) the food was fantastic, the enterment was 'entertaining' and the town of Ag Nic breath taking. Our family consisted of members aged 2 to 66 and this hotel had something for every one of us. I am shocked to read some of the negative coments and really don't know how this hotel could give any more. Never before have I left a hotel feeling so sad as I felt I was leaving friends behind. I would rerturn here in a heart beat.

We stayed at this hotel in July 2011,the only thing that lets it down is the expensive bar prices and the beach is very stony. The restaurant can be very busy at the 7pm to 9pm time slot but the staff do work very hard to acomodate eveyone. The hotel itself is spotless clean in every area and the pool is very refreshing , the animation team do work very hard , this is not to everyones taste but it is all in the spirit of fun and trying to get everyone involved , after all it is a Holiday.
