We booked 2 nights at Asion Lithos at the last minute, the day before we arrived. After spending hours before we left for our holiday researching a number of different places and having 3 placesin mind, I did a switcheroo and took a gamble based on location, availability and gut instinct at the last second. Well, all I can say is the hours of research proved to be useless, because I made the best possible choice. Asion Lithos was amazing. First of all, absolutely stunning property. We felt like king and queen of the most beautiful castle on the edge of a mountain in the beautiful Crete countryside. The stone houses and surrounding grounds are solid and impeccably constructed. A lot of though went into the architectural details and landscaping. The pool area and deck is perfect. The traditional villas are huge and well built.

So, atmosphere? Check. A 10. Service? We were inviting in like family by Nikos and his family. If there was anything we needed, it was provided. There's something magical that happens when you go off the beaten track and have the fortune to see and be a part of real Cretian life. We stumbled into a family/village party our first night and, although it was a celebration of their son's graduation,we couldn't help but feel like the guests of honor because they welcomed us so warmly!

We were able to opt for breakfast in the morning and I'm so glad we did! We had our very own personal chef come into our villa and lay out the most amazing and delicious spread for us! (pics to come). What a treat!

We did very little than enjoy our surroundings and relax by the pool, and that was everything we needed. Only suggestion I would make is to provide pool towels! Take note that there are not a lot of dining options to walk to, but we had both dinners at the taverna on the hill which were great.

Lithos is truly an exceptional and special place. Don't hesitate and make a booking before the secret is out!
