“Nice room, spa and breakfast room not to be missed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Check-in: Quick and efficient. As it was a bit ealry we were offered a coffee at the Tea Palace next door while our room was prepared. A bottle of house wine was waiting at the room as well as Christmas cookies.
Room: We stayed at an Acropolis Deluxe room on the fourth floor. The room is spacious and elegantly decorated with period furniture. There was ample space to store things and multiple light settings to give the room the right ambience. The bathroom is large and clean but a bit tired. The room has two small balconies that afford nice views of the Acropolis, Syntagma square and the Parliament. The only downside was the level of sound-proofing which I found average.
Room service: The room service was excellent, friendly and efficient. They took our order at 4 am and delivered a very juicy and tasty burger and condiments with a smile. Next morning we had in-room breakfast which also arrived quickly and was very tasty.
Breakfast: The breakfast room is located on the 7th floor and most people would want to sit in the covered balcony as it offers marvelous panoramic views of the Acropolis, the centre of Athens and one can see on a clear day the sea and the islands in the Saronic gulf. The breakfast itself is nice, with all the usual stations and some cretan specialties, although it won't create any wow effect.
Spa: The spa is on a lower ground floor and is a bit small. Changing rooms were well equiped. We had requested a shared room to have a royal treatment with my wife, which was really excellent. The entire process was swift and effortless.
Tea Palace: The one thing that is a bit of a let down is the communal space on the ground floor and Tea Palace. Compared to some of the other big hotels in town, the entrance is more akin of a boutique hotel. Tea Palace on day time has little charm and feels it's been mostly functioning as an evening bar.
Parking: After reading some of the reviews previsously posted here I was a bit concerned but it turned out to be very easy and efficient. Upon arrival each day I was just dropping the keys at the front desk and they took care of parking the car in front of the hotel, so we could leave instantly.
Overall: A very nice, smooth and relaxed stay in a special place.

“Excellent, luxury, atmospheric hotel”

One of the best places I've been. Classical, spacious rooms with unique furniture, very helpful staff that clean and tidy the room many times per day, nice and small basement swimming pool and spa facilities. The view from the restaurant is a must see and rooms facing Syntagma square have a wonderful view to the Acropolis, the square and the parliament, not being noisy at all at the same time. Amazing stay!
Location is the best I've ever been in Athens. Everything is in walking distance - we did not use the tube at all during our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms towards Syntagma square enjoy views of Acropolis and the parliament!!!

“Old School Luxury with up to date comfort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed here on a family holiday over New Year's eve. The place is exquisite. In the Heart of central Athens, this hotel maintains an old school charm, whilst offering beautiful, clean and very comfortable rooms. A true 5 star hotel. The wonderful breakfast, is also noteworthy, as is the service.

“Highly recommend”

This was our second stay at King George Palace, and our confidence was well placed. The location is fantastic, right on Syntagma Square, and a short walk to the Plaka. We were a bit concerned before arrival, having seen the riots in the square on TV before leaving home. We needn't have bothered, the staff were well prepared for any occurrence . The rooms are all individually decorated, so vary a lot. however, the style and taste is all nice. Mostly older style with a bit of art deco thrown in, but very tasteful, and a nice change from most hotels. Breakfast overlooking the square and Acropolis is a great way to start the day. Dining on the verandah with fresh air and a view at a relaxed pace. The way breakfast should be. The staff too are very polite and helpful and will cater to your needs in a professional manner. A nice property, highly recommended. One word of warning about Athens though, be aware and keep an eye on your belongings, pick pocketing is rife. We have had a number of close calls, and friends who weren't so lucky.

“The nicest hotel we ever stayed in!”

Can't believe anyone wouldn't love this place!!

We stayed at the end of our Venice to Athens cruise on Azamara. It was one of the choices in the arrangements they provided. We choose this hotel due to the location and we were very glad for many other reasons. We found the staff, especially the bellman and all the staff at the front desk helpful and pleasant. They catered to our every need, even supplied a wheelchair for our friend who had fallen on the ship.

The breakfast was included in our package and in true european style it was amazing in content and quality! I love the large capers and the croissants and rolls w/ unusual jams. You can get your eggs cooked to order or have them from the buffet. They serve fresh squeezed orange juice and grapefruit juice. There are so many options at various stations including ozzo and champagne. The heart shaped air dried salami was also excellent.

The rooms are beautifully appointed and each has its own personality. The chandeliers and other lighting can be set to dim as you leave. The bathrooms are functional and beautiful, even the hallways are decorative. The desks and side chairs are antique and each one is different. We were at the hotel with friends so we were able to see other rooms.

Wi Fi is free and we had no problem with fast service. There is a buy one get one free happy hour that we missed but wish we had gone to see the view from the restaurant at night, it is spectacular for breakfast early!

The only small (-) is that they need to upgrade the quality of the towels and tissues.

We are thinking of a return trip to Athens just to stay there again!
