During our stay the riots had just finished for the time being.
The hotel was lovely and modern but in not the best location. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. when we asked the concierge where to shop he said the expensive places but when we asked a student working at the bar she told us where the locals go and it was cheaper, which was better. The pool was lovely, semi small but collects alot of sun, if you want to work on a tan. theres also a spa which looks very nice and a gym with all the facilities. Theres a small shop on site that doesnt sell much but across the road is a little stall which sells water, juice and snacks etc. The hotel offer a shuttle bus service to the city center for free which is helpful, it runs every hour on the hour.
over all the hotel was lovely, nice staff, location bit of problem but the shuttle bus made up for it :)
We stayed at the InterContinental Athenaeum in August 2011. We were upgraded to the InterContinental Club on the 8th floor for only 50 euros more. The staff could not do enough for us - including helping us book our trip to Thessaloniki by train. We were very impressed with their professionalism and calm attitude. Our room was a very large room with a little sitting area, and a large bathroom, and the most comfortable bed I had slept in for the whole of the eight weeks that we'd been travelling. The club room had two sitting/eating areas and a computer centre and a never ending supply of food and drink, which was included in the price. This meant that we had somewhere to go to relax and cool down after being in the heat of Athens mid summer. The pool was another great destination of the hotel where we could swim or just sit and relax. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will return the next time we return to Greece
The InterContinental Hotel chain is, to start with, one of my favourite hotel chains anyway. I stay in InterConti Hotels on a regular basis, mainly in Berlin, Vienna and this property in Athens.
I find the staff at the Athens property very polite, knowledgeable and now with newly decorated rooms one more reason to stay there.
There is a lovely outside pool attached to the Hotel which is closed during the winter month. Rooms features include a flat screen TV with a large spectrum of international channels, king size beds, good linen and nice amenities. There mini bar is well stocked but very expensive.
I usually get private transport from the Airport to the Hotel, getting about the city is very easy and not too expensive. The public Metro station is within walking distance and a Tram station stop approximately 5 min away where EUR1.80 gets you to Πλατεία Συντάγματος or Syntagma Square, Acropolis, Parthenon and the lively and bustling Plaka area, which I personally very much lovely, esp. in the summer when the weather is sunny and warm, great place to hang out, mix with the locals and enjoy the good Greek cuisine.
I always look forward to coming to Athens when my job takes me there, a city well worth visiting.
luxury hotel nice loaction they had a pick and drop facilities every 1/2 hour to and from city center , which made this hotel exceptionally best view from the top floors was amazing
breakfast was great!
