“In the heart of the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I stay here every time I go to Porto. The location is great. Walk out the front door to the Avenida dos Aliados, right in the city center. Restaurants, cafes, shops Metro and buses. This is not a modern hotel. The only downfall is that you have to carry your luggage up or down one set of stairs to or from the reception desk, but it does have a mechanical platform for a wheelchair. A small elevator is also available to the rooms. The buffet breakfast is basic.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony will give you a nice view of the avenue and its architecture.

“budget hotel screaming for refurbishment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

I was in Porto just for 3 nights and booked Residencial online paying only 85 euros for the whole stay with breakfast. The hotel is located within minutes from Trindade station from where a train takes you to the airport. I was quite pleased with the lobby, although the room was horrible. At first, I wanted to check out but then considered the price and the fact that I was there to rest only, I plucked up my courage and had shower. Run down and sticking of old wood furniture, cheap hangers and those towels with holes, OMG! I was scared to leave my belongings because of the poor lock and, what is the biggest joke, the front door was not straight and there was a gap through which you can hear and see the outside coridor. The view was nul as it faced the inner escape routes full of unnecessary clutter and other painting accessories. Some rooms have shared toilet/shower facilities! At least breakfast was good. Good quality teas, rolls, pastry would fill up for some time. Attention: no toiletries in the room or a kettle! I am giving them a big plus for bed comfort and location.

Room Tip: When booking this hotel, please read room description carefully as some rooms have shared bathrooms...

“Comfortable but room was tiny!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

Very friendly staff on arrival. It is in a great location as it is near the metro and on the main square! The room was really small but clean and the bed was comfortable. Although it is clean, the colour scheme leaves much to be desired and there are plumbing pipes in the roof of the bathroom that is clearly visible. We thought that to be rather strange. To our dismay we were woken up by loud banging at 2am! It was the painters and decorators busy with their business outside our window about 2 levels down. The breakfast was very basic with diluted juice, rolls, jams, croissants, cheese and serial.

We will go there again but we will ask for a bigger room next time.

“Solid, reliable hote”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

This hotel is fine for a short stay - good value for money, central location. Rooms are clean with a/c, breakfast was basic but fine, staff were quite helpful - WiFi avaliable but there is a charge for it. Easy walk from the train station with luggage. Solid choice.

“Excellent location, great for the price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

We stayed in this hotel for only one night, and would have stayed longer had we not had to change cities. It is a great place to stay, considering the price. They were doing some works on our floor, but our room was clean, our bathroom shiny and the girl at the reception very nice. Breakfast was VERY basic, but for the price we payed, it was more than enough. It may not be the ideal hotel to stay in if the focus of your holiday is on your hotel itself, but it is definitely a good option. We stayed in quite a few other 'residencials' in Porto, which may have been 10 or 5 Euros cheaper, but only because they weren't as central as this one.
