We stayed here two nights mid week in April 2012. There are two guest rooms above an excellent small coffee bar. You go through a door marked private and up a very steep wooden staircase to the first floor where the two rooms look out over a fairly busy corner just to the north end of the Oudburg. Rooms are well appointed and modern, comfy bed, very clean and neat. Big picture windows look out over the road junction which is quite busy with trams etc going past. But hey it's a city so relax and enjoy. Breakfast is served downstairs in the cafe, generous portions of freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee croissants, pain au chocolat, and a choice of an egg or some other cooked breakfast. The guys running this place are very friendly and very knowledgeable. The cafe is obviously popular with the locals and we got two or three great tips for places to eat.
It is very handy for all the town centre sites, canals, the three towers, etc. are all within easy walking distance and the town centre is handy for walking. We came by train, if you have a car it may not be so convenient. One extra piece of advice. If you take the tram from the station, it goes a fairly roundabout route and when we were there the route was interrupted by road works so you had to get off and walk across a junction then get on another tram. If you follow the advice on the Simon Say's website then you are on the right track, even if it doesn't always feel like it. Took us about 40 minutes all told, following a clockwise circuit right round the town centre then back in to just opposite SImon Say's. There is a quicker tram, number 1 but it takes you through the centre and not past the door of the cafe. Get a map from the station.
All together a fantastic place for a city break, great value and we had a great time. Highly recommended.
Both rooms look out over the street. We had room one I think.
