For the value, we could not have stayed at a nicer hotel in St. Gallen. Only a short 10 minute walk (up a gradual, slight hill) through a narrow alleyway from the train station, this hotel sits in a predominantly residential neighborhood with a bunch of small shops/restaurnats lining one side of the street (hotel side) and apartment (lofts) buildings with office/retail (in newly renovated buildings) on the lower floors across the street. Within 15 minutes, you can be down in old town. There are 2 type of rooms at Hotel City Weissenstein: standard and apartment. Due to 3 of us in my party, we opted for an "apartment" which suited our needs PERFECTLY. The apartment consisted of an entry hall area (10 feet by 10 feet) with a bathroom and 2 spacious bedrooms (each with a queen bed!) off of that entry. For an additional fee, there is also a kitchen off of the same entry hall which they keep locked but looked ideal if you planned on staying for an extended period. The included breakfast was GREAT and served in the reception area on the main level (even with champagne on weekends). The staff working in reception were EXTREMELY helpful and very professional, making any guest feel very welcomed and having a great knowledge of local sights and restaurants. Even the cleaning staff were always friendly greeting us each morning on our way to breakfast. This hotel is very clean, updated with a modern flare, yet still warm and inviting. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and plan on making a repeat visit in the future.
