Overall I was very satisfied with my weekend stay.
I chose this hotel as it was a Radisson Blu property - a brand which I usually trust. Booked my room on Radisson own website - price was not that cheap but remained reasonable by Swiss standards.
If you arrive by train, it is easier to take tram line 3 to the hotel. Travel time from the railway station is around 10 mins.
Check-in was quick and I felt welcome - a HUGE thumbs-up regarding staff friendliness and efficiency during my entire stay. The room was quite spacious and functional with a nice view over St Gallen and the surrounding hills. I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities: flat-screen TV, coffee-making facilities, individual air-conditioning, large desk with a chair. Very comfortable King-sized bed with firm mattress and fluffy pillows. All equipment were working properly.
Bathroom spotlessly clean and adequate - however it feels a bit cramped due to the shower being quite large.
Breakfast buffet is expensive (35CHF) but opulent and tasty. Good offering of cold cuts, smoked salmon, various cheese, yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit salad. The muesli tasted quite fresh. Warm food included bacon, sausages and tasty scrambled eggs. Breakfast room was bright, staff efficient and unobstrusive.
On the downside tables are rather close to each other so that you can not move around freely. Newspapers available but only in German.
I ordered room service for dinner. Good service with reasonable waiting time of 25 minutes. Main dish (veal stripes in mushroom sauce) and dessert (creme brulee) were delicious.
There are two Internet computers in the lobby. Access to the airline websites is free (very practical for online check-in), otherwise it costs a rather hefty 0.60CHF/min.
All in all I can warmly recommend this hotel for its great staff and very comfortable room. However room price is not cheap - it is better to keep an eye for promotional offers or discounted weekend rates.
