“Excellent Swiss standard & well located”

The Walhalla sits directly across from St Gallen's main train station, and is a block or two away from the main shopping area of beautiful St Gallen.

Much of the hotel has been recently refurbished, including public areas and restaurant. Check in was pleasant and simple - the lobby has free internet for those in need of connection.

My room was rear-facing and peaceful, spotlessly clean, with modern decor and wood flooring. The bathroom was small with no tub, but a good size shower and toiletries.

Remote TV with plenty of channels, Coffee maker, minibar, magazines, writing desk, double glazing and aircon.

Breakfast was served in the ground floor restaurant and was vast with all the bases covered and very appetising too.

I found the City to be very clean and pleasant, the Appenzellbahn train ride to Wasserauen superb (don't miss the cable car to Ebenalp from here), and the City's proximity to Romanshorn & Lake Constance an added bonus.

Excellent in every respect.

“Not the best location”

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night. It's a 2 second walk across the road from the main train station. Our room was very modernly decorated, a good size too. We arrived on a Sunday and everything everywhere was closed, I think everyone was at the Bodensee because there was no-one anywhere except a couple of drunks hanging around the station. There was nothing wrong with the hotel at all but I'd recommend either spending the day at the Bodensee too or staying close to the old-town as there's nothing around the train station.

“Premiere Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2005

This hotel has a great location, superb staff, and great value for a 4-star property. It is not immediately visible to a stranger just arriving at the train station - but it is conveniently located directly across the street from one end of the terminal. It is a short (2 blocks) walk from the "Old City" and the Cathedral/Bibliotheque. The continental breakfast, complimentary to all guests, is vast and includes eggs, fruit juices, meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, Nutella!, hot beverages. The standard room, which was not air conditioned, was nevertheless perfectly comfortable in August. The amenities were excellent. The pillows were big, but evanescent. The top-floor suite, with huge sky lights, is hot if the airconditioning is off, but comfortable with it engaged. The suite requires guests to wag their bags up a flight of stairs, because it is one floor higher than the elevator. The lobby features a computer with free internet.
By the way, if you find yourself in St. Gallen, you will be 1 hour away from Switzerland's most amazing - and uncorrupted - city: Appenzell. Don't miss it.

“Hotel Walhalla /Good, Convenient lodging”

Hotel is across from rail station. Good for Business Travelers. Convenient for trains to Scenic Appenzell. See St Galen Hotels for details. Good Shopping in that area. Staff very accommodating, including locating hotel accomodationfor me in distant cities. For example, they found just the type of lodging I wanted at my next stop in Koblenz. Stayed there often. Can't compare with other local hotels because this is the only local hotel I ever used.
