Pros:
-Located on the banks of Lake Thun with amazing views of the lake and the alps
-Exceptionally clean and new modern furnishing
-Very friendly staff from top to bottom, speaking Eng/Frenc/German
-Clean rooms, nice furnishings, very comfortable beds
-3 Free bottles of water and 2 juice in room per day, fresh fruit throughout hotel
-Has complimentary fitness/wellness spa for all guests*
-Included breakfast has a good spread of tropical fruit, juices, swiss cured meats, breads, pastries, cereals, coffee and tea
-Surrounding grounds are beside amazing, lake shore trails, rear balcony seats overlooking the lake
-Apparently wifi in room, never tried it.
-Excellent Restaurant. Good lunch buffet for about 30chf a person.
Cons:
-No air conditioning. In March, it was 75 degrees one day, and our room which faced the sun all day felt warm, but opening the windows cooled it down. We left it partially open at night since it got stuffy.
-Too far from downtown/train station to walk comfortably, but then it is the 2nd stop (Seepark) on the bus line 1 which leaves from the front of the train station. Multiple trips could be pricey
Hotel is on the pricey side, but it is worth it. Dining room's large windows give view to the panorama that is the Bernese Oberland. Also, the hotel fulfilled our room request as close as possible. There are technically no lakeview rooms, but they put us in one of the rooms where there is enough of a view of the lake and mountains on the balcony.
Appreciated that very much.
It is a conference hotel, and there were 2 different conferences during our leisure stay, but they were well run, and they didn't affect us one bit.
*The wellness spa is free, but it is "very European" meaning you're technically not supposed to wear your towels (or anything) in there (as the europeans are used to) so be warned.
Would come back and recommend to all our colleagues.
