Stayed here in November when visiting Basel during their Autumn festival, which if you haven't been is a great time, with good food, games and a great atmosphere. The hotel is very conviently located right across from the train station, which is still a pretty easy walk (10-15 mins.) from the downtown. The breakfast is fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful my wife and I really enjoyed it there. On top of all of this the minibar drinks and snacks in our room were FREE! I've traveled all over Europe and never experienced this before, which is great because Switzerland tends to be quite expensive. I would certainly stay here again if I return to Basel, great hotel!

The hotel is very closed to the central station and to tram connections. The rooms are confortable, quiet and well equipped. The staff is nice and helpful. The rich breakfast is served in a charming hall.

We spent one night at the Hotel St. Gotthard in October, while on our way to a hiking trip in Alsace. This hotel is walking steps from the train station, yet so filled with charm and personality, you would almost think you are in the country.

The rooms are small but very nicely decorated. There are some very interesting public spaces with an art collection established during the owners' various travels. The desk staff are extremely helpful.

Finally, the elaborately decorated breakfast room must not be missed. There is an excellent buffet that covers every possible taste. I will definitely stay in this hotel when I return to Basel.

Beautiful, clean, bright, friendly small hotel right opposite the station, perfect for anyone travelling by train. My room was on the street side but was quiet nevertheless. Sadly I had to leave early in the morning, but an excellent breakfast (included in the rate) was brought to the room at no extra cost, dead on time. The room was very well equipped and I'd have been delighted with the free wifi had I needed it on that occasion. I was given a free pass for public transport in the city (the trams are well worth a try). The hotel's invitation "Come as a guest, leave as a friend" was no exaggeration - I for one definitely want to go back there.
