We have just returned from our stay at the Villa Belvedere in San Gimignano and thought it was lovely. All the staff were friendly and polite, especially the guy at reception. The hotel is within walking distance to San Gimignano town so we could have a couple of drinks after dinner. We also loved the fact that breakfast was served in the garden. The hotel also has a pool and we had a swim when we got back in from sightseeing as it was very hot in July! We visited towns like Sienna, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and many more little places and also did the Chianti Region. We went to the ´Brolio Winery´where they give you a tour of the castle and the factory after which you get to taste 3 different wines. We were lucky as we turned up just before 15.00 which was the last tour of the day. Sat Nav had difficulties finding the place as it tried sending us to another town called Brolio about 1 hour away, so perhaps better to check out their website before you leave, also about the exact times of the tours.
San Gimignano itself is very picturesque, we went to town every night for dinner and icecream. Also went to the 1300 Museum and the bell tower which had nice views of the city. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday!
