“The perfect vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Looking at pictures from vacation last year made me remember one of our best vacations ever! Fattoria Voltrona is the perfect agriturismo, close to villages like San Gimignano and Siena but in the same time far from turists, you can really enjoy the peace and silence. We stayed with another couple, who had ben recommended this place from friends.
The dinner was typical Tuscan, well cooked and flavoured. The wine produced on the farm was perfect to the food. For breakfast you could have a little bit of everything. Always fresh fruit, also during the day.
All the staff was very helpful and polite.
The main reason we went to Fattoria Voltrona were the horses. We have got icelandic horses ourselfes and for us it´s very important to see they are well maintained, and I can say it´s difficult to find better places for the horses than Fattoria Voltrona. The swedish horseguide took great care of them and also of us, she saw the need of every rider.

The only bad thing about the place is that we compared every hotel and agriturismo we went to after. After staying at Fattoria Voltrona every place seemd nothing compared to the Fattoria Voltrona.
We will be back soon!

“Idyllic surroundings”

We stayed here as part of an Exodus walking and wine week. The fattoria was everything we needed with a pool and good food in a very beautiful position with amazing views towards San Gimignano. No tv or radio helped the relaxation.

“FAntastic stay!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We couldn't have loved Fattoria Voltrona more!!! Even when planning our stay - they were
SO generous in promptly answering my many e-mails. And the same when we arrived - so kind! We loved the rustic nature of the farm - just what we wanted for our Tuscan stay!! Our room had the most BEAUTIFUL view - simply breathtaking. The swimming pool was fantastic, and the view from there amazing as well. We at dinner at the farmhouse on our first night there, and are so glad we did!! The food was DELICIOUS and beautifully presented. Sitting outside was a wonderful experience, and the chianti and olive oil superb!! The breakfast and breakfast room were terrific as well - so charming, so homey, so Tuscany!! The only snag we had was when trying to reserve a horseback ride - there was some confusion and we were unable to take the ride. But the management was so classy and gave us a wine gift box as an apology. (I would definitely book the horseback ride before going, and double-check that it is indeed reserved.) The location is unbeatable - a short drive into San Gimignano and very close to Volterra and Siena as well. We loved our stay here - it was exactly what we had hoped it would be and then some!!

“good for relax and exploring but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

PLUS
location (perfect for exploring Siena, Florence etc),
price (quite good for the area)
swimming pool and communal areas (very nice indeed)
rustic and without TV (I loved it)
oil produced there is SUPERBE
SO and SO
road to get there is pretty bad (my car suspensions suffered)
noises in the morning (6-7 am) from breakfast room and in the outside areas
breakfast ok but a bit boring and cook/waitress pretty depressing looking and a bit rude
dinner at the farm is cheap and abundant but not amazing (we got a terrible terrible tiramisu)
wine is cheap but unimpressive
towels changed every other day (ok for us but for other people may not be great)

overall I suggest this place as long as you know what you get...we knew it so it was fine

“Lovely scenic location. 1 hr walk to San Gimignano.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Positive:
- Low price
- Gorgeous scenery everywhere
- Spacious rooms. Nice simple rural feel.
- You can walk to San Gimignano (1 hr. through gorgeous views; better than being in San Gimignano)

Mixed:
- Some rooms have balconies with fabulous views of hills and vineyards, but people hang out at the outdoor restaurant in front of them and make noise at night.
- Other rooms face the "garden" (A boring patch of grass with no view) but are completely quiet.
