“The Perfect Tuscan Hotel and what a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We just stumbled upon this charming hotel after a day at the wineries. For not having a reservation, we didn't expect much - but our experience was amazing. Our room was small but sufficient. The views of the city were priceless. Exploring the resort was fun; rosemary bushed more than 10ft tall, lite pottery lanterns in the stairwells, beautiful terraces, a small winery. We couldn't of asked for anything more. Dinner in the cafe was simple, but delicious - pizza & salad, very fresh like picked from the garden just moments before. The house made balsamic vinegar was SO good, we bought all the remaining bottles in the gift shop to take back home.

Room Tip: ask for a city view!!!

“Beautiful and Serene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

This hotel was recommended by a friend who had stayed here before and loved it. We were a group of 4 girls traveling around Italy and wanted an inexpensive place to stay for one night. I only wish we had more time to spend at this hotel! Our room was large (huge when speaking in European standards) with more than enough room to sleep 4 people comfortably, even our bathroom was large and we had beautiful views of the rolling hills from our window, even on the 1st floor. The hotel has beautiful grounds to stroll along and is situated right in the middle of a vineyard with great views of San Gimignano in the distance. They have wine tasting and a small restaurant/bar on the property. The pool wis beautiful and VERY clean. There are hammocks and benches spread all over the property where you can sneak away with a good book or just sit and enjoy the views. This hotel feels like more of an Inn than a hotel.....which is good if you really want the authentic Tuscan experience.

“Tranquil and fabulous”

We found this hotel on tripadvisor and are happy we did. The hotel itself is a charming converted fazenda surrounded by vineyards and olive orchards. The rooms are good sized and well lit and we were fortunate to get Room 96. It is a corner room and has windows on the two exterior wall that provide the best of all possible views across the valley to the city of San Gimignano. We used the room balcony to enjoy our wine (purchased at the hotel wine shop) and cheese and other tasty delights. The setting is amazing but you do have to drive to get into town as it is about 2 miles along a windy well travelled road with no shoulders. The hotel also has a pool and substantial grounds for relaxing but October was a little chilly for us to take full advantage. We would absolutely go back!

Room Tip: Room 96 has amazing views and lots of light.

“We got there too late in the season!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

The Hotel Pescille may be a delightful find in the summertime, but we got there mid-October when things were winding down for the year (they close in November) and the lack of meal service made it a disappointment. Apparently, meals other than in 'summer season' were not offered, except for the mandatory European breakfast. The hotel's location about 5 kms from San Gimignano meant that we would have to leave the site for an evening meal, adding about 30 euros to the cost of supper not to mention the booking of taxis, etc and additional aggrevation. If you go there in the 'off season', you should have a car.

The property outside is beautiful and, in summer, would be a lovely place to relax for a few days. The pool area was quite attractive and everything seemed to have been well maintained.

The included breakfast was quite adequate and reasonably stocked, mostly with cold items which is normal in Europe..

The rooms are spartan, nothing fancy, but clean and decent. The2 'ghost' light fixtures (mentioned by other travellers) are comic. Bathrooms are tiny - putting a toilet, shower, washbasin and bidet in a room 4 x 5 is a real challenge. It barely works. If you're overweight, good luck using the toilet!

But the staff were very helpful, offering us a frozen pizza and wine supper on our first night after we discovered that no meal was being prepared. They also contacted the owners who agreed that we could transfer our reservation to their sister hotel, the Belsoggiorno, within the walled city of San Gimignano. There we had a better experience, a slightly better room and a view to die for!!

We would recommend the Hotel Pescille for its remote site, best for travellers with a car, and only when the weather is quite warm, but check beforehand to see what meal service is offered.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a view of the old walled city. It is a long way from the Hotel, but st...

“Beautiful!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

Hotel Pescille is the epitome of Old Tuscan charm. It was out of a story book beautiful. The amenities were many and they even have a store filled with products made right there: wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The pool is lovely (deep for kids; don't send them alone) and the meals at the restaurant were delicious. The breakfast was far more than the usual continental. The place is heaven on Earth. Very close to the hilltop town San Gimignano, too. Wi-fi is available in public areas and unlike so many other hotels in Italy, it is easy accessible. Would definitely return.
