We have just stayed for three nights in the hotel Alla Corte Degli Angeli in beautiful Lucca. It is superb in evey way and absolutely deserves its number one slot in TripAdvisor hotels in Lucca. It is centrally located - right in the centre of the old city, just minutes from all the sights and yet quiet and tranquil. The service is unfailingly helpful yet discreet. But best of all are the beautiful painted frescoes on the walls (done by a local craftsman) of the dining room and bedrooms and even the bathroom - delicate, ethereal landscapes that lend a magical air to the rooms. The bedroom was extremely comfortable, the breakfast ample and delicious (and served from 7am to 11am - very comforting to those of us who like to stay up late). Highly recommended
The hotel is clean, well positioned & the breakfast is better than usual!the reception staff were welcoming and the room compact & well decorated. Only complaint was the extreme heat in the rooms, the radiator was stuck on.we did speak to reception after the first night but it was not remedied.overall, a nice place to stay though.
We chose Alla Corte Degli Angeli based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, and I'm glad we did. The hotel was perfect for the two of us. It was a short taxi ride from the train station and we were welcomed on arrival by Peter at Reception who gave us a run down on things to do in Lucca. The room we booked was the Tulip room and it was the perfect size. There was plenty of room including a walk-in wardrobe of sorts which had a small safe. The bathroom was excellent - a shower and a bath - and everything we needed seemed to be at hand. The breakfast room had the required provisions for travellers and we were most impressed with their area for gluten-free and low-fat diets. Boiled eggs were cooked on request and they were able to provide decaffenated coffee. We thought the location of the hotel was excellent but Lucca is an easy place to walk around. We also had some good food recommendations which I will review on TripAdvisor separately.
You walk into your bedroom and find the walls painted as though they are Roman ruins. You feel like you're in the open air. Staff are friendly, breakfast is good, bathroom is modern and location is excellent -- just off the main street. Lots of good eating places around. (And Lucca is the perfect spot for a day trip to Pisa and the Cinque Terre.)
