Situated inside the walled city of Lucca, this little B&B is hidden in a tiny little side street and just a tad hard to find, but so worth the effort. Parking is not allowed in the little piazza nearby so you have to either park your car in one of the designated municipal parking areas a few blocks away and walk with your luggage (doable) or drive your car closer, park until you unload and check in, and hope they don't give you a ticket. That being said, the rest of the B&B is quintessential Tuscan atmosphere.
The main door is wooden and recessed so you have to be vigilant when looking for the entrance. You ring the bell and are buzzed in. Once in, you immediately climb up stone steps to the reception area. The spotless rooms are uniquely decorated and feature tile flooring throughout. The bathroom is fully modernized and more than large enough. The four poster bed is comfortable and the walls are painted brightly with murals, while the ceilings are traced by rough-hewn wooden beams.
Continental breakfast is self-serve in a very small area with a varied selection of cheeses and meats, breads and pastries in addition to espresso and "American" coffee. A receptionist makes sure everything is replenished and offers assistance. Be aware there is only seating for maybe 6 at a time as there are possibly 6 rooms. We had no problem.
The receptionist was very helpful with any questions we had and right around the corner were two little cafes. Within a block or so were more trattorias and whatever you could want to eat.
All in all, we loved this B&B. We would just caution that there are steps involved so you have to be prepared to navigate them. But if you are able, it is so worth it.
