this place is truely unique. It is on a working winery and has a few apatments isolated among the vinyards and olive trees. a kilometer walk to the bus station in Girone and a 20 minute ride to downtown florence. No hassle of finding a place to park or driving in the city.
Elisabetta is a gracious hostess. A bottle of their red chianti and 1 of their white are in the room and available for purchase at the main house for 6-10 euros. These are very good Chianti wines. easily $30 a bottle in the US. No TV but great stars in Tuscany.
No wi-fi except at the main house a mile away but if you are in florence all day who cares.
Walk to the bus through the vinyards. Nice resturant in girone or bring your own food for the small kitchenette. Pick a time when the moon is over 1/2 for the beautiful walk home. Early october and the crowds were smaller--but still sizable-and the weather was great. the harvest was just finished and the leaves were changing.
The breakfast was in a beautiful room with great coffee. Wish we could have stayed days longer.
