Recommend this! Definitely, want to come back!
I was on a 10 day trip to Italy with family and picked this place for our stay in Florence. We spent totally 4 nights in Florence at La Luna. And it was a real good experience at this BB.
We booked this BB since it is pretty near the SMN station, about 8 min walk, and close to the river bank where you can start to explore the city by walking a long the road from Lugarno Vespucci. The arch was actually the landmark that we could easily spot to locate La Luna. However, the building where La Luna resides was a bit difficult to find, since the numbering system was messed up (I saw both old and new numbers on each house which can be confusing). I called the owner, Riccardo, and he came out to take us up. To put it right, La Luna is about 150 meters away from the beginning of Via del Ponte alle Mosse. The guest house on the second floor of the building numbered 15.
Anyway, he helped us with the stuff, and guided us to a pretty nice room. I was surprised about the bathroom as they usually are small (even the studio apartment we stayed in Rome has a very tiny little bathroom where you could hardly fit in). Riccardo did the check-in procedure and started to introduce us about "Firenze", which we should see, and where we should go. He also recommended some restaurants which were not very far from where we stayed. I must add, there is also a very nice Chinese restaurant which is one door from the bar at the corner of Ponte alle Mosse. Many Italians eat there. Riccardo was so helpful in arranging reservations for us to Uffizi gallery and Academy gallery. We really enjoyed that.
We stayed here three nights, did explore the city, galleries, cathedrals. We also spent one day to on an excursion to Pisa/Sienna/San Gigminano on a one day tour. Then we rent a car (from Avis) to go down South of Florence for two nights. We left part of our luggage at Riccardo's and went back for one more night at La Luna before coming back to Rome.
Over all, the place is nice and clean, very quiet, you have your own set of keys to come and go as you wish like home; helpful owner, and his friend too :); you have wireless Internet access; not keen on breakfast in any hotel or guesthouse in Italy unless you want to try outside. I think it met all my needs.
