“Really good small hotel, but so cheap that it is almost suspect...”

Florence can be expensive for accomodation, with small rooms, poor service etc.
Stay at the Argentiere and you will have none of these problems! Located south of the Boboli Gardens, you can walk to Ponte Vecchicco (via Porte Roma) in circa 30 mins. Alternatively you can take a bus (regular service) which will bring you to the centre of Florence in 15 mins. Hotel is very friendly, where staff stand to meet you in the morning to exchange pleasentries and ask if you slept well. Breakfast can be taken out on a large veranda overlooking the rooftops, and was of a very good standard (lashings of hot tea/coffee, cheese, ham, breads, conserves, juice, cereal etc.) all for the ridiculous price of €4 per person!! Parking is free in their own secure car park (driving in Florence is strictly restricted (big fines and no tourist defence), and parking is €20/25 per day.
Rooms in the hotel are large, with some of them having large balconies and cost only €72 per double room!! (probably more during July/August) All of the staff are excellent, really friendly, and the girl in reception constantly sings (always a good sign - unless she is also inebriated, which she isnt!!) The difference smiling staff can make.....
I have the good fortune to stay in very expensive hotels (business trips), but If I were visiting Florence again, I would stay at the Argentiere.

“Horrendous-Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

We got a room that looked like something you would expect to see in a brothel. Red and yellow curtains and a dirty circular red furry rug on the floor beside the bed. Faded beadspread on the bed and a raggy looking patchwork type thing thrown on jaded looking sofabed. Absolutely awful. The shower flooded every day. Towels were threadbare. The whole experience was awful. Also a bus ride from town. The pictures show the rooms looking a lot better than they are. The reality is that some DIY enthuasiast tried his/her hand at the conversions to create these rooms and failed miserably, and if they were decorated with any thought at all it was with furniture from a flea market! It gives me the shivers just thinking about it again!

“Lovely People - Lovely Room - A bit far out of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

I was really impressed with this hotel. Our room was clean and had all mod cons. Solarium was v. nice. Breakfast was v. basic. The staff couldn't do enough for us, really nice. Buses/location is a definite problem. As with any city it takes time to find your bearings - the bus is a little infrequent (every 20-25 mins) and was hard to catch on the way back with the one-way system. Other than that good value for money.

“Room service stole money from my room -> don't stay there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

In principle ok for the money but no safe and there was a lot of creaking in my room.

Then a sizable amount of money vanished from my room.
It was somewhat hidden, so the room service must have looked around to find something valuable to steel
Turned out they don't have an insurance for this and they didn't really care about it either.

This is slanderous accusation that gives a damage of our great image visible on all agencies.

Our staff is our addiction for more than three years and never has happened a similar case.

The strange thing is that in the room were many empty bottles of alcohol like whiskey and strange cigarettes.

Let customers who read hundreds of book reviews visible on the agency the necessary conclusions.

“Total not worth”

high price with low standard, the bed and furniture looks tooooooooo cheap! The quilt, sheet looks very cheap and also not so clean,if you are a couple you will have no mood to...at night.no restaurant nearby,it's location out-of-the-way,because we didn't take navigator with us,it took long time to find it.Actually the standard of the hotel lower than a hostel, not comfortable at all.Oh,the stool in the toilet also broken. I should take a picture then you will know how it really look like, not the same as what you saw in their website at all.My only suggestion here is don't waste your money on this poor place.
