Perfect except for late night street noise if you are a light sleeper as the location is spot on for train travellers. Easy two minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station.

This was our third time staying at the Old Florence Inn, and once again it surpassed our expectations.
Before we left Paris, my partner ate some bad chicken, which left her feeling pretty sick, Florio and his staff was incredibility helpful in helping us get an english speaking doctor and even lending us money to pay until we could get to a bank. They did everything they could to help make her comfortable.
To anyone planing a trip to Florence, I would highly recommend this B&B, it has large rooms with balconies on which you can enjoy your breakfast, or a wine or two at night.
Also some of the best dinners we have had in Florence are within easy walking distance.
This trip we had hired a car for the first time (would recommend to anyone driving in Florence, get a GPS!!). Once you arrive at the Inn, ask Florio to ring the garage, and they will send someone over to pick up your car from outside the Inn. Then simply ring them up 30min before you leave, and they will drop your car back to you! and it costs no more then a normal garage rate.

The location was excellent if your driving - just outside of the zone. Walking distance to everything. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was surprising comfortable. Some mentioned the noise on the street but we didn't hear anything.

Francesca and David were very helpful and made calls for us to the museums. Also we had a small problem and they were fabulously in helps us retrieve our package. Thank you.

We stayed here in a double room during April 2008, and paid about 89 euro/night.

The place was clean, and the reception polite (the reception even helped out one of my friends when a misunderstanding caused her to arrive a day before we did - they called around and found her a room in another hotel since they were fully booked). We liked our huge room (by European standards) and bathroom. Breakfast was provided each morning on a tray, with juice, some "toast" in a little package like crackers, and some jellies and Nutella. NOT very impressive, but there were apples sometimes in a basket by the reception and I took one of those instead, and one day we went to a bakery.

The hotel is basically next door to the train station, so it's not in a very pretty or quaint area, but there were several bakeries/sandwich shops nearby, and of course the station if you wanted to go in there to find anything.

Florence is a small city compared to Rome, and we were able to easily walk to all the sites we wanted to see, as well as plenty of restaurants, without using any public transportation. The hotel itself is near San Lorenzo (the Medici church).

We were annoyed that there was no internet provided - you had to go around the corner and under the building to a dingy internet cafe. Personally I wish that wifi was a standard amenity of all hotels worldwide. :)

To sum up our experience, I would say that we neither cared much for the hotel nor disliked it. My main complaints was the stingy breakfast and the lack of internet access, but it was sufficient for our needs, and honestly - who needs an amazing hotel when you're out exploring Florence all day? :)
