Within walking distance from the train station and situated on a street right next to the Arno River, we were pleasantly surprised by the quietness of the surroundings. Our room was spacious with 2 extra twin beds, simply but adequately furnished, tidily maintained throughout our stay. It has a splendid view of the river all the way up to the Ponte Vecchio, high ceiling so that with windows opened, there is n need to turn on the air conditioner during daytime or at night. Atmosphere was homely, very different from the usual hotel stuff and the owner was friendly and always helpful. Very happy with our stay here and will definitely comeback.

we just came back from staying 2 nights at the hotel and would share our experience.

Positives - As others have said it is a bit far from central florence but florence is a small city and it is easily walkable to Duomo. Will take around 20/25 minutes.

Area is very secure with all embassies around. Views from the hotel are great of the river and the hills.

The owner was great and very helpful. Breakfast was very limited of just some while and brown bread, coffee/tea, orange juice, some prepackaged sweets and some yogurts. No fruit of any kind. However this is common in many places in Italy.

On to the negatives- Rooms were ok. Paint was coming off in bathroom and underneath the bed there was some dust indicating it wasnt cleaned properly. Shower was extremely clumsy and shower doors almost came off when trying to close.

We could live this all the above, especially considering the price. However there was one big problem and this (for us atleast) outweighs everything else. The walls between rooms were almost nonexistent and you could hear every single world spoken in next room. We had an english speaking couple in next room who kept on speaking quite loudly till very late on both nights and for light sleepers it would be almost impossible to sleep. Not sure if this is with eveyr room but do keep this in mind when choosing this hotel.

At the end of the day it is a 2 star hotel and you get what you pay for. For us if rooms were more sound proof it would be a jump to a 4 star hotel for sure.

We were moved from our original B&B and then transferred to the Hotel Casa del Lago. What a wonderful surprise!!! The rooms are comfortable and clean with a beautiful view over the river. It is located in a quiet area which is so relaxing after a day of walking around Florence. The breakfast was wonderful, all sorts of pastries, yogurts, etc. with even a cappuccino made for us and hot chocolate for the children. The best, however, was the family who run the hotel - they made the entire stay very enjoyable. We had to work and the internet was perfect. Finally, our train did not leave until late in the evening and they were gracious enough to hold our luggage for the entire day. Not sure why this is only a two star - it was by far one of the best hotels we stayed in during our summer in Italy! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

We unexpectedly found ourselves staying at Casa Del Lago due to our arranged accommodation being double booked.
We were delighted to find ourselves in a lovely clean,large room with a fantastic view over the bridges of the River Arno and the Tuscany Hills. The hotel is on the 4th floor of an old building hence the great views. Luckily there is an elevator!
The owner spoke English & was helpful with information about the city.
The room was simply furnished, with high ceilings, decent sized bathroom & a large comfy bed.
Easy 15/20 minutes walk into heart of city,
Lovely quiet area after the bustle of the city but a bit of a trail in an evening to find places to eat. Safe area to walk about in at night due to being near the American Consulate.
