For us, the place is perfect. Our second trip to Florence, Our second stay at Olimpia. The staff is great. their English is terriffic. We chose a room over-looking the Piazza as we enjoyed the bustling and noice as we drifted off to sleep. the rooms are just charming with their 14 ft ceilings. our room was on a corner so we had a nice cross breeze in the evenings.

breakfast was great.......Manager made us cappuchinos every morning as the ones from the automatic machine were just not as good. Clearly the location of this hotel is just perfect for EVERYTHING.

I stayed here in July, for 2 nights and I was very unhappy checking in as it was clearly not a three star hotel but given it was high tourist season I would not have been able to find another room easily. If you want to stay in a hostel for cheap hostel prices this is fine, but if you are paying high prices like I was then its a rip off. I met my nephew who's touring Europe there and his room & breakfast 30 euro per night with zero star hostel was better than mine plus he had a wonderful view of the Duomo from the top of the hostel. I am confused with tons of travel sites rating hotels in Italy way - way above what they qualify as. I think its grossly unfair to travelers and REAL 3 star hotels to be mislead in this way. As for the people in reception, the toll booth operator at the Lincoln Tunnel in NJ is nicer!! Breakfast what a joke, I wouldn't touch it. O an no A/C in the "breakfast room."

I was traveling with two kids, so safety, quiet and friendliness is important. We could be back in five minutes from the uffizi, and our room, which looked on to an alley was wonderfully quiet and totally dark with the blinds closed (we called it the bat cave) air con was fine.
Kids loved the old fashioned elevator and the loo/ shower/sink experience and I appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. Beds were comfiest on our seven week trip. Breakfast was great, and the window looked over the piazza. Ignore other meanie reviews ESP. The ones that say it is hard to find. Eight foot sign on wall should give you a clue.....

Excellent location near to Duomo, right at centre of shopping streets near to good eating joints. 15 min walk to station. Hotel is located in the old township of Florence.

Stayed at room 9. Very old room with furniture in horrible condition. Badly needs makeover. Room was clean however felt depressing.

Bathroom is very small/claustrophobic. Badly needs renovation. Very very old with no space to stand for shower. Water pressure leaves shower much desired

Buffet breakfast with bread that either is few weeks stale or cheap leftover from bakeries. Bread roll hard enough to break your tooth. Juice diluted with water. Only Cake was good. Hard finding anything good to eat. Better to book without breakfast if you desperately need to stay in this hotel.

No iron avlble. Wifi avlble at euro 5 per day

Definitely put it on the NOT RECOMMENDED List. Would never stay there again even for 50% of price.
