This is the first time we stayed in NH Porta Rossa. It's a small charming little hotel in the heart of everything. After all, Florence is a very compact place for visitors. The room we stayed is very big and modern ( though slightly sparse ) thanks to the upgrade to a junior suite. The breakfast buffet, included in the room rate is substantial. There is free wifi at the hotel lobby. So overall a very good hotel, comfortable and convenient.

I just love the NH Porta Rossa. I recently stayed here for a short weekend getaway as a side trip from Paris. I was fortunate to find this hotel at a very decent rate.

The standard room is more than enough for one person. It's a bit on the smallish side for two but would still work. The floors are in a beautiful hardwood with a nice TV hanging on the wall. The bed is very comfortable and there's plenty of storage for your stuff. Everything was well maintained and super clean.

The bathroom is excellent. Large in comparison to the room and finished in a very elegant gray stone. There are speakers in the bathroom so you can listen to the news in the morning when getting ready. A heated towel rack and modern, glass enclosed shower completes the room. Water pressure from the shower was great as well.

The hotel itself is beautifully appointed, from the lobby with its beautiful ceiling to the theme of the decorations on each floor. WiFi is free in the lobby. The breakfast is highly recommended; there's a large assortment of pastries, cold meats, hot items (eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, etc.) fresh fruits, yogurt, juices, etc.

The location cannot be beat. Right next door to luxury shops like Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada, etc. and just minutes from other popular Florence destinations like the Duomo (5 minutes), Ponte Vecchio (5 minutes), Piazza della Signoria (5 minutes), etc.

Only tip: ask for a room on the Via Porta Rossa side. The other side sometimes get deliveries early in the mornings and can get noisy.

This is my hotel of choice for the next time I'm in Florence!

We arrived at this hotel on January 17th, early in the afternoon, and we were given the room immediately. We were surprised to find out that it was an old palazzo and one can still see remanents of that. It is located few blocks away from the Duomo, the staff was very helpful -in particular people in the restaurant; breakfasts were great with lots of items, the wi-fi is limited and slow, our room was big with a lovely street window, the bathroom was a bit too cold at night. When we left the hotel, on the 21st, there was a last minute taxi-drivers strike and the receptionist got us transportation to the airport (although at higher price than a regular cab drive). All in all a good experience.

Perfectly located, charming place. I am so happy I found it. I appreciated the free wifi in the lobby. The breakfasts were awsome.
