“my third time at the golf hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

Again, great stay here. Staff is great (as usual), they even remembered our names after so many years and went the extra mile to accommodate us and to accomplish with all our needs.
Since last time we came i could notice a huge remodernation, especially the rooms. We had a huge, spotless "stanza" with a nice lcd tv, and a fast free wifi connection.
Only negative point....no eggs for breakfast..
As i said this was my third time, and surely won't be the last..grazi!

“Dilapidated hotel, LOUSY service, HUGE mosquitoes”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

This would be the worst hotel we have ever stayed. Usually the state of the hotel could be make up for with good services. However, Hotel Golf has managed to throw service down the gutter. Yeah, free wifi. But we were turned away twice by the receptionist telling us "I am very busy!! Come back LATER!".

Mosquitoes!! I just realised there was another review on them. Uncanny! We managed to tracked down 2 over the long dreadful night, but still woke up with stunks all over our faces. We made a booking for 3 nights but left on the 2nd.

I would recommend it only if you absolutely require free car parking. Otherwise, stay away!!

We are very sorry that your stay has been disturbed by these two inconvenients.
We do apologize for the mosquitos, that nevertheless have never been reported to the reception, otherwise we would have surely done something in regard.
We are also sorry for the WI-FI issue, caused by a temporary tecnical problem.
We are surprised that your judgement is totally based on these two inconvenients

“Felt Like We Were an Imposition in their Facility”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

We have never been made to feel so unwelcome in any hotel in the world. The staff at the desk went out of their way (picking up a non-ringing phone, busy with the computer...) to ignore us as we came and went. At times it almost felt hostile. Not once were we acknowledged as paying clients and thanked for our business. Nor were we ever asked if any assistance could be provided. At time of check out we, again, were treated with incivility and with as little communication as humanly possible on the part of the (main) desk attendant. The room was nice and it was clean. Being at the front of the building we had to deal with street noise. The walls are thin and the family/crying baby next door kept us awake. The complimentary breakfast was staffed by less-than-friendly personnel and the breakfast left a lot to be desired. A very unfriendly atmosphere. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to explore the Florencia city. Hotel is located close to city centre. In the hotel we got a map and the receptionist explained us how to get to the centre and what we shouldnt miss to see. That was very nice as it was our first time in Florence and we had only one day to explore the city.
Hotel is not new, but it is clean, nice lobby, rooms are standart. They have a minibar with cold drinks in the room. You can use it to cool your own drinks as well. Breakfast are included in the price. They are typical - cold buffet with ham and cheese, cereals, yoghurt, croasants, jam....
Parking might be a problem. Make a reservation in advance. It is free but they might have no space for your car when you arrive late at night. Fortunately we had a small car so they fitted us there.
Make sure you get back your IDs as they forgot to give them back to us. So they have to mail it now. Fortunately we had our passports other way we would have to go back from Bologna to Florence for them.
For the price you pay you get nice and clean standard room. Dont expect something special but there is no reason why not to choose this hotel.

“Nice hotel, easy to drive to with parking and within walking distance of the center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

My wife and I visited here for a whirlwind one and a half day stay at Florence during our month-long tour of Italy. We arrived at the Golf about mid-morning and requested to have a parking space, which was granted even before our check in, we then took the 20-minute walk to the center of town and began exploring. In the evening we returned to check in, and were greeted warmly even though they were in the middle of shift-change. The room was quite large, with a great view and a huge (by European standards) bathroom and shower. The breakfast was adequate, but of poorer quality than most of the other breakfasts we had in Italy. We arrived the first day of what the hotel classifies as ‘peak season’, so our rate was €100 for the night.

All-in-all, the Golf is a nice little hotel if you want to drive to Florence without the hassle of driving around the streets to find parking.
