We've booked this place through recommendation and having read reviews but our personal experience somewhat different from some reviews here. We originally booked for two nights and ended up moving after one night stay. We arrived by train and walk from the station which is quite easy, the location is not very nice and it seems like the hotel is situated in the bad neighbourhood, we were too worried to go out on the first night and ended up walking down the road buying snack to eat in the room. We have to carry our suitcases into the room ourselves as there seem to be one staff working there. The room was dark and bed sheet was not clean with some stain and hair on it.The breakfast selection is poor with hard rock bread and no toast available. The plug sockets in the room were not working at all despite an attempt with an adapter from the hotel. The wi-fi didn't work and we have to ask to use the hotel computer. Overall the hotel is less than 3 star as published and we will not be going back there again. However, Marco at the reception was very nice.

This place looks like a dump from the outside. The lobby is shabby and the rooms look like you stepped into the 1960s. Small rooms with small bathrooms. However, it was very clean, and with very helpful staff. They will park your car for you if the lot gets too crowded. Very knowledgeable staff. The breakfast was good. Basically, you get what you pay for here.

We booked a double room for 1 night in August 2011 at Golf Hotel in Florence.

I choosed this hotel, even if there were cheaper hotels in historical center, because of the free parking, very important when you have a car in Florence.

When we arrived we were told that Parking was full, and we can try to find a parking zone outside in the street, but of course it was not free (3€ per hour from 8am to 8pm !!). I insisted on the fact that i chosed the hotel for the free parking and asked for back-up solutions, but obviously it was not a big concern for the receptionnist.

His only answer was to say : "We have a parking but it's full. We didn't give you guarantee of a parking, show me somewhere it's written parking is guaranteed."

We finally parked in the street, with no security, and we paid 35€, only for 1 day...

The hotel is a bit old fashionned, rooms quite small but clean, and the breakfeast is one of the simpliest we had in Italy.

My advice : you can find cheaper hotel in this category in Florence, closer to the historical center, with private parking for around 20€/day. It will be better than the "free" parking of Golf hotel.
