I stayed there 1 night in September - bad experience. The hotel looked dirty. Room very small and dark. Bed linen was so worn out that I didn't want to sleep on it. Mattress was old. Only a couple of good things: 5 minutes walk from the train station & good wi-fi connection. Don't forget I didn't come here to surf the net; I came here to sleep! I felt so bad that I cut short my stay in Florence and moved on to Siena. Stay away!

The Hotel Byron is situated very close to the the train station so no need for a taxi. The staff were very pleasant and the old world charm in the lobby and breakfast room was lovely. Our room was adequate , not the room with a terrace and a view of Florence/Tuscan hills and not with bed mites as described by others. The room had a view of rooftops which we liked and with a good bathroom. The hotel appeared to accommodate mainly Italian visitors when we were there. The position was perfect for a stroll around the sites of Florence and we ate twice some lovely food in the restaurants . We absolutely love Florence. It has an easy pace which is a refreshing change from Rome. It displays many unique gallery style shops and walking around it is a feast for the eyes with a peaceful element due to the lack of motor vehicles.

This hotel is extremely old and dated. On our first night, we were bitten to pieces by bed mites — and yes, we are sure they were mites because the bites were completely different from the mosquito bites we got while touring Florence. We then switched rooms and this time were given a room with no toilet paper, a broken shower door and a broken air conditioner (but thankfully no more mites). The breakfast was very basic and the table cloths were dirty. The only positive thing about this place was the reception staff: They were friendly and most apologetic and all seemed extremely dejected and fed up with working in such a poor hotel.

I cannot confirm the negative feedback for the Hotel Byron.
We arrived here by chance without pre-booking and found that the hotel is very central and ideally located to explore Florence. The staff was very helpful and friendly and it was a funny experience to arrive here. Another plus is the closed parking lot and since we have a lot of stuff in the car this is very convenient. The room and the building is old but very original with high ceilings. In our room all was fine and we did not hear any noise from the bar nearby. Compared to the price of the hotels next door the value is ok here. This is a good place to be.
